About the Centre of Excellence Legal. 

The Centre of Excellence Legal Team (‘COE’) is the multi-disciplinary legal team supporting all lines of business including Commercial Banking, Consumer and Community Banking, Corporate and Investment Banking and Asset and Wealth Management across NAMR, EMEA and APAC (‘Global Legal Teams’). The successful candidate would have a strong legal analytical and collaborative skills, be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within the team and be a true "self-starter."

Job Responsibilities: 

We are looking for an exceptional attorney with a strong passion for learning, drafting, negotiation in a broad spectrum of banking and commercial agreements. As a member of the COE Legal team, you will be assisting in the following:

1. Projects:

  • Providing legal analysis and support on legal projects and documentation; 
  • Review, draft and negotiate legal documents, and providing legal support to the Global Legal Teams (Strong technical knowledge in contracts is essential and knowledge of and experience with negotiations of  commercial contracts with strong attention to detail); 
  • Collaborate and support of large, complex matters, deals or remediation projects.; and
  • Provide gap analysis and summary of transaction and client specific deviations in negotiated agreements from standardized templates or against playbooks and policy manuals to identify discrepancies, escalation mechanisms and managing remediation exercises.

2. Automation & Technology Assimilation:

  • Assist in the development of in-house tools for various Global Legal Teams to manage their tasks more effectively and efficiently; and
  • Identifying potential projects/requests suitable for automation and work in tandem with the respective technology teams to provide solutions.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:

  • A law graduate from a premier law school in India;
  • 2-4 Years PQE; 
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analytical skills;
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to interact with senior business personnel and stakeholders in other functions;
  • Competency in the use of technology, documentation management systems and shared databases will be viewed favorably;
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills;
  • Ability to identify and escalate issues timely and appropriately;
  • Comfortable working with metrics and data measurement systems; and
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and within tight deadlines.

JOB DESCRIPTION Job Responsibilities: Management and Governance Forums Reporting – Support all aspects of the controls monthly reporting process to meet the local and global reporting deadlines. This includes coordinating the preparation of governance decks; taking care of meeting logistics, minutes, etc.; and preparing monthly scorecards and metrics that will be reviewed in Senior Management and governance and controls forums.  Metrics – Act as lead for the metrics that are owned and overseen by the team, including managing required changes to the metrics.  This involves end-to-end development and automation of metrics, in partnership with Product Owner and Technology teams. Lead metrics generation and analysis, coordinating relevant stakeholders input for explaining key variations and related issues.  Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for metrics generation / execution processes and keep documentation updated to reflect any subsequent changes. Furthermore, you will liaise with GRCC Controls Solution team and LOBs to identify data anomalies, conduct deep dive on potential issues, and participate in review meetings with LOBs.  Controls Testing – Work in partnership with the GRCC teams to co-ordinate with LOBs the execution of regular controls testing.    Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities: Required Qualification  Leadership & Partnership –  Able to operate across businesses and functions to drive deliveries within internal and external deadlines with minimal supervision.
