We are looking for highly skilled professionals who will not only review contracts but will act as a professional business partner to our various businesses across the Maersk Group. At Maersk we take a 360-degree view on contract management which means taking a holistic approach to contract management and negotiation. You will work closely with our commercial account owners, product owners and other important stakeholder functions to achieve a win-win result for our customers and Maersk.
The successful candidate will be joining a large team of in-house lawyers, claims specialists, compliance officers and other experts focused on meeting customer needs whilst mitigating risk across the business. The team operates in a matrix organization, interacting with senior stakeholders from Copenhagen, The Hague and around the world whilst providing important advice and guidance to the business. Maersk Legal Shared Services provides legal, claims and compliance services to a diverse range of functions across the Maersk Group.

Key responsibilities

Reviewing contracts 

Liaising closely with business owners and other legal departments in the Group

Advising stakeholders on the risks and exposures in contracts by applying a holistic 360-degree review

Negotiations with customers and/or suppliers

Creating risk management and legal awareness

Supporting the HQ and regional legal team and leadership in contract management/governance.

Review and report obligations to ensure that responsibilities defined under the contract are met.

Develop ‘eye to eye’ relationship and engagement with internal stakeholders and implement process capability.

Provide consistent and predictable high-quality service to business partners and end customers

Ensuring a well-governed and diligent contracting process from start to finish.

 

We are looking for :

The candidate holds a Bachelor of Law or Master of Law and has extensive contract review experience. Candidates with a proven track record within the maritime, supply chain, logistics or similar industry are welcomed to apply. Knowledge of another language besides your native language and English is a plus.

The candidate has 5+ years of experience from an internationally oriented law firm or international corporation with an experience in drafting, reviewing, and finalizing maritime, logistics and commercial agreements. 

Understanding of international maritime and shipping law is preferred.

Given high stakeholder interaction excellent English skills both oral as well as written are required and proven capability in MS Office is required.

 

Key Measures:

Ensure high quality delivery review of documents

A natural ability to handle a lot on the plate is required with an eye for details.

Ability to build and create credibility and perseverance in negotiations.

Ability to understand the customer’s pain points and work on a solution to the benefit of both parties. Applying a commercial mindset while ensuring appropriate risk mitigation.
