Lead Legal Counsel- Compliance and Real Estate
Serves as a key adviser to the senior management and provides day-to-day advice/counsel to the company on all land and compliance related legal matters. Lead & deliver high quality assigned legal, contracts and compliance responsibilities, at both an operational and policy level by working meticulously with specialized knowledge & practical experience in these domains and experience of executing with Integrity. To ensure and protect the legal interest of the Company by ensuring proper management of litigation, minimizing risk involved in Contracts executed by the Company.
Job Description
- Serves as a key adviser to the senior management and provides day-to-day advice/counsel to the company on all land and compliance related legal matters.
- Lead & deliver high quality assigned legal, contracts and compliance responsibilities, at both an operational and policy level by working meticulously with specialized knowledge & practical experience in these domains and experience of executing with Integrity.
- To ensure and protect the legal interest of the Company by ensuring proper management of litigation, minimizing risk involved in Contracts executed by the Company.
- Proactively ensure Statutory & Legal compliances in company's documentation, transactions and action to strategically liaise and successfully resolve all ongoing legal cases.
- Provide general legal/risk mitigation advice to multi-functional teams on miscellaneous matters, such as land, EHS, security, factory compliance, labor & employment matters, privacy, and regulatory issues.
- Coordinates and supervises all outside legal counsel engaged to represent the Company with respect to asserted claims or legal proceedings.
- Works closely with the legal team based across corporate office and other locations.
- Maintain MIS for legal department. Make regular updates to legal case files and contract records to the General Counsel.
- Prepare case brief and notes and provide update of the proceedings held in court cases on periodic basis.
- Update the management on evolving judicial trends and legislative proposals, policy changes, amendments in laws and important judgments passed by various Courts / Forums and the appraisal of the impact thereof.
- Assumes responsibility for special projects assigned from time to time by the General Counsel
The Successful Applicant
You should be an LLB graduate with minimum 8 years of experience in capital intensive indistries/ top law firms. You should have sound understanding of relevant laws (Real Estate/Mining/ Electricity/ Environment) and its impact on businesses.
