Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced accounting professional for the position of Director, Technical Accounting and Special Projects.  The position reports to the Vice President, Corporate Controller and is a remote position.

 

The position will provide global technical accounting support to senior management and business unit management and will participate in various special projects to assist senior management and other constituents with corporate and business unit initiatives.  In addition, this individual will oversee the record to report transformation initiative.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical research and accounting support to our business units and corporate functions for complex business transactions, including accounting guidance related to revenue recognition, leasing, debt, acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Draft position papers and interact with external audit staff.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies.
  • Research and analyze emerging accounting issues from the SEC, IASB, FASB and other regulatory bodies. Determine and effectively communicate the implications for Pitney Bowes to key constituents.
  • Maintain relationships with business partners to ensure early identification of transactions that could have a potential accounting/reporting impact.
  • Oversee the record to report transformation initiative and be a liaison between Business Unit Controllers and our Business Process Outsourcer.

 

Required experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Master's degree preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience including a minimum of 3 years of experience with large active public clients.
  • CPA, with Big 4 Public Accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Proven project management skills – ability to coordinate projects from inception to completion, incorporating feedback from multiple sources.   In addition, ability to multi-task and meet critical deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills/ability to work with others
  • Attention to detail; excellent problem solving and analytical skills

 

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance

 

The wage range for this position is $160,000/yr to $175,000/yr, with the actual pay dependent on your skills and experience as they relate to the job requirements and the location where you will be performing the job. 

This position is eligible to earn an annual incentive bonus
