This role will be directly responsible for ensuring the financial accuracy of all claims payments and financial reporting in support of Financial Protection within Specialty Benefit Operations. Additionally, this individual will oversee multiple accounting consultants as well as collaborate directly with multiple financial business partners including controllership, accounting, actuarial and the CFO.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with local and corporate financial/actuarial teams
  • Develop, implement & maintain processes & procedures for financial reporting
  • Measure accuracy, quality and timeliness of all financial reporting within Financial Protection claims
  • Resolve high level financial reporting issues within initial claims along with daily reporting
  • Manage the audit process in support of accounting and reporting issues (e.g., SOC1)
  • Oversee the preparation & analysis of internal & external reporting ensuring the quality, reliability and timeliness of reports
  • Provide operational & technical accounting expertise to ensure compliance with company policies, rules, regulations & laws
  • Manage the vendor relationship between UnitedHealthcare and payroll vendor, ADP
  • Ensuring accuracy of all daily, quarterly and annual financial reporting to deliver accurate key tax reporting. This is including by not limited to W-2s, 1099s, etc.
  • Summarize findings on the monthly, quarterly and/or annual reports to senior management, auditors, and regulators
  • Support various special projects as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or requisite relevant experience in a CPA function
  • 3+ years of demonstrated progression in financial reporting & analysis
  • Experience successfully managing multiple requests, assessing priorities and achieving solutions under deadlines
  • Solid knowledge of state and federal tax code with ability to research and validate appropriate corporate processes
  • Expert level of proficiency with excel, word and other financial reporting tools
  • Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven advanced analytical and information gathering skills; ability to evaluate and prioritize extensive detailed data

Preferred Qualification:

  • CPA

 

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $85,000 to $167,300 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
