About Team:
We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our Compute Infrastructure Team. As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the compute infrastructure and related service offerings that supports Walmart’s critical systems hosted mainly in Data Centers, Distribution Centers and Stores. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the availability, performance, and scalability of our compute resources and services. This role requires a strong understanding of Linux OS, system architecture, virtualization technologies, and a passion for optimizing and automating processes.
What you'll do:
Design and implement scalable and reliable compute infrastructure solutions to support our organization's critical systems.
Experience working in Linux (Ubuntu / RHEL / SuSE / others ) and Mac environments and good understanding on clustered/distributed systems.
Strong knowledge of system architecture, server hardware, virtualization technologies (VMware, Nutanix, KVM, Hyper-V), and containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
Development Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Ansible, Bash, or PowerShell and Good understating on REST API.
Experience with CI/CD tools and configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, or Chef.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their compute infrastructure requirements and provide technical expertise to develop effective solutions.
Manage and maintain compute resources, including server hardware, virtualization platforms, and container orchestration systems.
Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize compute resources for maximum efficiency.
Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and configuration management processes using tools such as Ansible, Puppet and Concord.
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery of compute systems through effective backup and replication strategies.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, including performance problems, network connectivity, and application compatibility.
Perform regular system maintenance tasks, including patching, firmware upgrades, and security vulnerability assessments and remediation.
Develop and maintain system documentation, including standard operating procedures, configuration guides, and best practices.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends related to compute infrastructure and provide recommendations for improvement.
Ensure production servers and services are highly available 24/7 and participate in on-call support rotation as and when required.
Mentor new team members and assist with knowledge transfer requirements.
