JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for a resourceful candidate to join our DESRI group, based in the firm’s office in Hyderabad, India. The candidate will be part of DESRI’s tax function and will regularly interact with U.S. and Hyderabad-based teams, as well as external parties.

What you’ll do day-to-day

In this role, you’ll oversee and manage the tax function, that encompasses tax compliance for renewable projects located across multiple states in the U.S. and other corporate entities, and tax planning for transactions effectuated for different power projects within the portfolio. You’ll be required to interact cross-functionally to formulate, analyze, monitor and implement strategy, compliance and finance management for direct and indirect taxes. You’ll be expected to engage in tax modeling and various forms of accounting, management, and investor reporting, including partnership accounting, hypothetical liquidation at book value (HLBV) modeling, yield tracking, deferred taxation (ASC 740) and budget versus actual analysis. You’ll liaise with U.S. and Hyderabad-based team members, asset managers, treasury and tax team, external consultants and tax authorities for various tax related matters. You’ll also work on initiatives related to establishing, standardizing, optimizing and documenting tax processes, workflows, and controls.

Who we’re looking for

  • The candidate should be a Chartered Accountants / Certified Public Accountants, with five to eight years of post-qualification work experience
  • Candidates with prior experience in the energy, real estate or financial service sectors will have an added advantage
  • The candidate should understand tax laws, assessments and tax in the U.S. with an ability to read and interpret federal and state guidance, agreements and contracts accurately
  • The ideal candidate should have proven track record of both managing a team and building out processes and operations with excellent leadership, judgement and organizational skills
  • Candidate should possess excellent written and spoken communication skills, and an ability to work independently with limited direction and guidance
