As the Assistant Model Developer in UnitedHealth Group’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team, you will be challenged to leverage statistical and econometric knowledge to help develop, enhance, and maintain economic capital modeling components for use in UnitedHealth’s Own Risk Solvency Assessment process.  As a key resource in financial and econometric modeling you will bring fundamentals in model development to a group of Enterprise Risk Management professionals working to enhance UnitedHealth Group’s risk management and capital assessment rigor in the ever changing health care environment.

 

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with ERM team to update the economic capital results each year
  • Further enhance current capital models using your statistical and econometric knowledge to meet business and regulatory requirements
  • Identify opportunities to further develop modeling components that will augment the current economic capital model
  • Write and maintain model documentation according to rigorous model documentation standards like SR 11-7, Actuarial Standards of Practice around Modeling and Model Development, or the like
  • Defend models and model results to audit, validation, and regulatory stakeholders wanting to know and understand the deeper theory and application of the theory to the modeling context
  • Execute on and maintain evidence around model governance and change management
  • Assist on other projects in ERM and Corporate Treasury related to statistical, financial and economic modeling

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, or Mathematics related field
  • 1+ years of experience with statistical/econometric/financial modeling
  • Proficient knowledge in financial and managerial accounting
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and Visio
  • Ability to code in R, Python, or other statistical language
  • Ability to work with relational databases and code in SQL
     
  • Proven solid ability to write and communicate to various levels of technical and less technical experts
  • Proven solid desire to learn the business, so that models will be appropriately designed to meet business realities and needs
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in statistics, econometrics, mathematics or at least an ASA designation in the Society of Actuaries
  • 2+ years of fulltime work experience statistical and/or regulatory capital modeling
  • Experience with regulatory work related to Solvency,  Basel, CCAR/DFAST, or the like
  • Experience with interacting with validation and audit professionals
  • Experience with off the shelf modeling software like Milliman Arius, Advise FIRM, or the like
     

 

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $56,300 to $110,400 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
