Job description 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and Manage strategic programs and portfolio delivery across a wide range of complex technology and business issues and initiatives, and will be required to:
  • Own and lead the governance and implementation of refreshed Technology Vision for Enterprise Communications & Marketing Technology, leading a small team to deliver on the multi-year strategy and bring key stakeholders along on the journey - Working with stakeholders across Technology to drive programs such as (illustrative examples, actual projects may vary):
  • Operating Model between Product and Engineering teams
  • Location Strategy to optimize the Engineering team
  • Technical Oversight of strategic initiatives with vendor partnerships
  • Support the Vice President, Technology’s office in developing and managing the Investment Planning exercise across  Enterprise Communications & Marketing Technology organization.
  • Support the Vice President, Technology’s office in planning and architectural solutioning for high exposure strategic technology transformation objectives.
  • Lead efforts to progress key initiatives in our Tech Strategy owned by the DDIM organization (ie. Best In Class Experience).
  • Directly lead key portfolio deliveries within Enterprise Communications & Marketing Technology organisation, over the course of the transformation, applying agile best practices to program delivery, including ‘test and learn’ where appropriate.
  • Lead all aspects of technical project management and special projects requiring strategic analysis and data consolidation.
  • Support the Vice President, Technology’s office in managing strategic communication and branding aspects to enable multi-directional communication and feedback to drive sustained change
  • Lead the development and execution of strategies and initiatives to drive Colleague Engagement.
  • Build strong working relationships across the DDIM org, in addition to key partners, to enhance collaboration, problem solving and generate solutions to deliver results.
  • This role may be subject to additional background verification checks.

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will be proactive, flexible, strategic, highly organized, and eager to take full ownership of their work.

Required skills:

  • The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter who is able to provide strategic thought leadership and lead projects with limited mentorship.
  • Ideal to have experience with engineering and program management background across a rich combination of front-office and back-office technology capability suites; you will have developed and shipped production software and are passionate about building a strong Engineering culture at American Express.
  • Ability to wear multiple hats and context-switch frequently and seamlessly.
  • Willingness to 'think' strategically, while also being willing to 'act' pragmatically and get into the weeds if necessary, including being hands on and coding where needed.
  • Aptitude to balance trade-offs as you influence teams toward successful products.
  • Demonstrated relationship & leadership skills in large programs with proven track record to influence without authority.
  • Know how to work with Engineering and Product teams, and have solid experience with overall strategies, org structure & design.
  • A passion for operations and demonstrated experience in operationalizing processes, systems or practices at scale.
  • Knack for building relationships across the organization as you find creative solutions to high visibility questions.
  • Eager and able to soar at strategic levels as well as dive deeply into details (rolling up your sleeves) in order to deliver concrete outcomes.
  • Outstanding track record with cross functional partners.
  • Experience or background in running both technical and business programs, solutioning and delivering high stakes enterprise priorities .
  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience.

Plan, Prioritize and Execute end-to-end ownership of a development task and ensure high quality delivery of a feature on stringent timelines. E2E ownership of analytical needs for the product helping monitor and analyze data, assess trends and determine actions to optimize business and operational performance Implement strong data quality controls in entire data management process with 100% accuracy and 100% on time delivery. Collaborate with senior business stakeholders, product owners and technology partners across multiple geographies to design and deliver critical initiatives with high sense of urgency Drive automation initiatives within existing processes and fully optimize delivery effort and processing time. Identifies opportunities to adopt innovative technologies. Minimum Qualifications: Advanced degree in computer science, IT or management from premium institutes Excellent verbal and written communication skills An interest in all things digital, financial and data related Certified SAFe® 4 Product Owner/Product Manager would be preferred. Problem solving skills with ability to solve unstructured and complex business problem.   Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a tremendous will to win Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under tight deadlines Exposure to digital analytics would be a plus Skills in data management with knowledge of SQL/Hive is a big plus.
