VRO organization within Global Risk and Compliance (GRC) is responsible for identifying and managing risk across all business units, functions, processes, and geographies at American Express, related to affiliate and non-affiliate Third Party Risk.
The Director – Vendor Risk Oversight and Analytics will be part of the VRO organization. The incumbent will help support operational risk analytics and build and lead a world class team of analytical professionals to support and analyze different facets of Third-Party risk to AXP. The team will assist in the identification, measurement, monitoring, and management of risks related to the business products and processes.
The incumbent will lead a team of risk professionals in India and will be responsible for identifying, measuring, monitoring, and reporting on operational risk related to Third Parties (affiliate & non-affiliate). We are seeking an experienced leader to be a part of this exciting journey.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead deployment of Third-Party Key Risk Indicators across Non-Affiliate and Affiliate Third Party Programs at Amex.
· Automate existing VRO monitoring mechanisms.
· Lead an analytical team providing guidance to design and build comprehensive data analytical approach to identifying and measuring and reporting on Third Party risks.
· Provide enriched insights using industry data and leveraging best practice tools and techniques over the affiliate andnon-affiliate Third Party lifecycle.
· Challenge Third Party program and risk data completeness and accuracy.
· Perform advanced data analytics to identify trends, composition, leading indicators, and outlook in Third Party risk.
· Leverage unstructured data sources (e.g., social media, customer chat) to identify potential AXP Affiliate and Non-Affiliate Third Party Risk process breakdowns.
· Provide local leadership to India based VRO colleagues and actively participate as part of GRC India Leadership team.
Minimum Qualifications
· 5+ years of leadership experience in risk management or a similar role;
· Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science or Economics).
· Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to apply both quantitative methods and business skills to create insights and drive results.
· Strong analytical skills, including a proving ability to translate complex and disparate information to develop a comprehensive and cohesive conclusion for colleagues, business partners, and senior leaders.
· Ability to work independently and across a matrix organization partnering with business partners, functional owners, capabilities, technology teams and external vendors.
· Rigorous and analytical approach to problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritization collaboration across teams/geographies.
· Demonstrated ability to effectively hire, coach, train and develop a team in all aspects of their role.
· Proactive in identifying issues, delivering and escalating key findings, and advising on recommended solutions to correct issues or mitigate risks
