We are looking for a highly experienced Legal Affairs professional to join our team. You will be responsible for providing legal support to our business activities, including advising on corporate legal matters and drafting various legal documents. About the role:

Legal Affairs:

 

  • Provide legal support relating to business activities of GBS including advising on and reviewing intra group service arrangements within Swiss Re and handling governance matters
  • Provide advice on a variety of corporate legal matters including corporate filings and interaction with statutory authorities.    
  • Draft and vet various types of contracts, petitions, legal notices and other legal documents    
  • Provide legal support on various digital, data and technology related initiatives
  • Provide legal support and advise to various corporate functions including Human Resources team on employee related matters and on procurement matters
  • Manage litigation and coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders including law firms
  • Interpretation of Regulations and advise to business teams for implementation in business processes.
  • Liaise with advisers, such as lawyers and auditors
  • Support Compliance team in their activities

 

Company Secretarial Matters:

 

  • Act as the Company Secretary to the GBS Board
  • Handle corporate related compliances including appropriate filings
  • Handle all governance related work and coordinate with the regional team on internal governance requirements
  • Coordinate with cross functional teams and with Practicing Company Secretary to ensure compliance.

 

About you:

 

  • 15-17 years PQE, India qualified lawyer
  • Qualified Company Secretary from Institute of Company Secretaries of India
  • Attention to details, ability to work independently and multi-task
  • Excellent written and spoken English and preferably local language
  • Good communication and cross-cultural skills
  • Prior experience in handing employee litigation
  • Prior experience with a Re/Insurance and labour laws preferred

JOB DESCRIPTION About the role: The primary responsibility of the Data privacy Legal Counsel, NAM, is, in conjunction with the Senior Data Privacy Director and other members of the Data Privacy team, to help Diageo leverage data as a strategic and commercial asset. This role provides strategic guidance on digital marketing and use of new technologies; advising key partners within digital marketing and wider marketing team. The Data privacy Legal Counsel, NAM will have deep knowledge of data privacy in the United States and Canada, as well as an ability to deliver commercially-minded advice. The successful person will operate at a strategic and operational level, requiring an ability for pro-active critical thinking to identify creative solutions to challenges and high levels of credibility to deliver sophisticated messages in a nuanced, clear and persuasive manner. They will use their legal understanding to ensure the business is well advised of the options open to it: explaining legal concepts in plain English; adapting advice to the specific audience; working autonomously and taking initiative. Qualifications and Experience Required: Membership in a State bar as an attorney, qualified to practice law as an in-house attorney in New York, with wide-ranging experience working on global matters. Experience advising on, and understanding of, data privacy and protection in the context of: digital marketing; HR / employment matters; and new technologies. Proven interest in understanding how technology works to deliver highly effective data privacy advice. 6+ years of legal practice in data privacy, gained in-house, or in a law firm.
