The Tech Area Lead is a senior technology leader with extensive experience thinking strategically around technology development and mentoring people. Strategically, you will have to oversee key decisions, including whether short term benefits with long term technical debt should be pursued over longer development lead time. Additionally, you will be integral in the decision of technical tooling and carry out regular reviews of performance metrics. From a people-management perspective, you will oversee technical personnel, including management of vendors. You will develop a close working relationship with the Portfolio Lead(s) to ensure alignment of technical resources and business priorities. You will inform key stakeholders about the state and direction of the tech strategy adopted by Chapter Leads, Product Owners, and other stakeholders. You will mentor the people around you and drive collaboration and knowledge sharing to benefit your area and the broader organization

The portfolio you will lead technical is a new portfolio centered on Consulting Productivity. You will be expected to understand the consulting journey maps, innovate on how technology can improve consulting productivity, rapidly prototype ideas and solutions and build teams to architect, design and operate these solutions in production. This role will be focused heavily on harnessing the transformative capabilities andnchallenges of cutting-edge Generative Artificial Intelligence.

Among your responsibilities, you will:

  • Share best practices for how processes are leveraged and how work is done
    • Establishing technological roadmaps and guardrails while regularly reviewing them to inform “how” platforms and processes work and are leveraged within Portfolio(s)
    • Helping in managing technological change by staying on top of relevant technical developments and innovations in your domain (both internally and externally), and proactively analysing the impact it will have to drive technological health
    • Sharing relevant insights and developments within area of expertise with all related development teams
    • Work extensively with your peers to identify and remove siloed thinking and execute opportunities to achieve scale via architectural re-use
  • Ensure adherence to firm-wide technology standards, and adapting them to suit Portfolio's needs
    • Working with stakeholders across architecture, security, risk, and other COEs to ensure the Portfolio's adherence to relevant technology standards and guidelines
    • Taking a long-term lens on adherence to standards and tools, and utilizing them to help the Portfolio succeed
  • Coordinate and manage people, knowledge, and resources within your Portfolio
    • Supporting and mentoring an organization of deep technical experts where knowledge is shared freely
    • Extensively coordinating with vendors and various other stakeholders both internally and externally, and monitor dependencies to create a cohesive tech strategy and demonstrate clear direction
    • Maintaining your own technical knowledge through learning and continuous improvement
    • Managing, gathering and providing feedback for, and developing Chapter Leads to further their skillset and career development
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders on Product roadmaps; bringing your own perspective on ‘what’ is built, not just the ‘how’ it is built
    • Direct line management of Agile squad based individual contributors and over time grow and coach a successful management for scale and leverage
  • Ensure progress of defined tech strategy through right resourcing, planning, and personnel development
    • Taking a long-term point of view on tech competency resourcing, identifying knowledge or skill gaps that exist within Portfolio(s)
    • Working with relevant SMEs and Portfolio Lead to ensure the Portfolio has the relevant capacity, resources, and talent to deliver new functionality in light of large change initiatives and/or changes in demand
    • Challenging the status quo, when appropriate, to accelerate progress towards strategic goals
  • Enable the organization’s new way of working
    • Modelling behaviours to support the organization’s technical transformation to a new way of working empowered by technological enablers

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Total 15+ years’ real-world experience at a Managing Position within the IT function, leading large cross-functional teams / teams or teams and solving complex problems for business functions.
  • Track leadership record, leading through influence, building long-term relationships and confidence building vision, roadmaps, budgets, priorities and objectives.
  • Large expertise in technology enabled business transformation, Digital transformation, Organizational transformation, delivering enterprise-level IT and Digital projects.
  • Deep understanding of technical domain, and how it can further business goals
  • Strong understanding of near and long-term technological trends impacting Portfolio(s)
  • Working understanding of functional domain, processes, and priorities
  • Knowledge of Agile Methodologies and ways of working (Scrum, XP, Devops…), understanding and applying “servant leader” mindset and with the ability to engage in Agile ceremonies to provide teams necessary direction and guidance
  • Exceptional communications and stakeholder management skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and comfort working within in rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience in consulting is a plus.

WHAT YOU'LL DO In your role you will bridge enterprise architecture and engineering and will own the design and integration of multiple (Bespoke and SaaS) products and solutions within the Consulting Productivity Portfolio.
