What you'll do:

  • Lead a team of user experience professionals to define, validate and deliver UX documentation for product experiences to PM and Eng in a timely fashion.
  • Chart out a path for the team to grow and prosper inclusive of the location strategy for talent, career training and individual enrichment culminating in a spirit of “it’s worthwhile to invest my career in Walmart and with the Customer Engagement Team.”
  • Mentor and coach the design staff ensuring a sense of connection, support and accountability.
  • Partner with UX Research to define learning objectives for research investments.
  • Partner with the Content & Localization practice leader to ensure adequate coverage and velocity of those functions in your workstream.
  • Facilitate in-person and or virtual design thinking workshops with cross-functional teams in the ideation and prioritization processes.
  • Raise the bar on design thinking activities for the team to change expectations for what it means to partner with us.
  • Partner with the Director of Inclusive Design to stand up, operate and hold accountable an Accessibility Testing function in close proximity to our Engineering colleagues in Bangalore.
  • Effectively manage team capacity and velocity to ensure investment in UX headcount is used to it’s maximum ability.
  • Run your team in an inclusive fashion actively supporting the leaders and contributors under your care effectively and as a servant leader should.
  • Build, foster and grow effective relationships with UX org peers and market stakeholders to further build trust and partnership.
  • Evangelize and advocate for the UX function to be resourced and heard in the organization.
  • Bring a strategic point of view to your Product Management partners turbo charging the UX function to go beyond UI design and to be a strategic asset in the creation and execution of product evolution.

What you'll bring:

  • 15+ years leading UX Teams of 20 or more especially with a multi-disciplinary focus (content, user research, design systems, and of course interaction design).
  • Demonstrated ability to influence large and complex organizations through strong presentation and analytical skills.
  • Masters Degree in Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, or Interaction Design preferred or a Bachelors Degree with 15+ years of total industry experience.
  • A background in Enterprise Application design and leadership with highly complex usage scenarios and functionality.
  • Demonstrated experience leading geographically distributed teams across multiple timezones.
