Cohu is seeking a Electrical Engineer for the development team in the Interface Solutions Group (ISG). The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in the design, development, testing of ATE test interface solutions for high volume semiconductor test applications. This position requires interest and aptitude with mechanical and software areas, but with the primary focus being on electrical engineering. In addition, solid communication and organization skills are required, along with the ability to work within a cross-functional team. Candidate is expected to maintain project management responsibilities for their assigned projects including maintaining timelines and meeting milestones. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to (other duties may be assigned): 

Advanced mathematical skills for calculation of design equations 

Excellent communication skills to explain technical specifics to peers and customers 

Writing skills for preparing manuals, parts lists, proposals and design documentation 

Ability to supervise technicians 

Focus and concentration to understand complex electrical systems 

Self-motivation to keep up with current electrical advances using new technologies 

Using industry-specific tools to analyze and test electronics 

Time-management skills for meeting deadlines 

 

Qualifications: 

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: 

Education and/or Experience:  

BS ECE required.  0-5ys of experience required.

Advanced mathematical skills for calculation of design equations 

Excellent communication skills to explain technical specifics to peers and customers 

Writing skills for preparing manuals, parts lists, proposals, and design documentation 

Ability to supervise technicians 

Focus and concentration to understand complex electrical systems 

Self-motivation to keep up with current electrical advances using new technologies 

Using industry-specific tools to analyze and test electronics

Some experience programming in at least one of: Python, Visual, C++, perl 

Familiar with firmware development process 

Understanding of concepts such as bill-of-materials(BOM) and assembly drawings 

Experience with electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters. 

Familiar with Microsoft Office products including word, excel, powerpoint, and project 

(Preferred) Experience with RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers and vector network analyzers 

(Preferred) Knowledge of RF theory and concepts, such as s-parameters and smith charts 

(Preferred) Knowledge of 3D EM field solver tools such as Ansys HFSS
