The Senior Tech Support Specialist position deploys, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a variety of customer hardware and software throughout Northern Light Health. Estimates and oversees projects, complex work requests and tasks, and other technical requests. Evaluates technical products and customer environments and recommends solutions. Provides Tier 2 and 3 support in all areas of the departmental service portfolio. Largely self-directed once assigned work and functions with considerable independence.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides excellent customer service to all levels of employees including customers, peers, and leadership
  • Participates and engages in team meetings, team building activities, and other opportunities to strengthen the department
  • Leads by example
  • Acts as backup for certain departmental leadership functions
  • Communicates in a professional, positive and timely manner in person, on the phone, and via electronic means
  • Represents the department and company in a positive and professional manner
  • Participates in the evaluation and estimation of routine work requests and minor projects
  • Participates in the orientation of new team members
  • Adheres to all Optum/UGH, Northern Light Health and departmental policies and procedures
  • Creates, follows, maintains and updates as necessary documentation and checklists to ensure efficiency and consistency
  • Uses advanced troubleshooting methodologies that provide efficient, effective resolution and minimize impact to the customer
  • Maintains detailed and accurate records in workload management, asset management and administrative applications
  • Adheres to deadlines
  • Actively maintains education and cross-training on all departmental areas of expertise
  • Maintains required certifications and prepares and leads training for staff within the department
  • Leads small inter- and intra-departmental committees and groups as requested by supervisor
  • Assists management in identifying opportunities for process improvement within the department
  • Assists customers with understanding total cost of ownership issues related to hardware and software
  • Works conscientiously to minimize cost and time requirements in all areas of departmental responsibility

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) OR 4+ years of technical support experience
  • 3+ years of technical support experience
  • 3+ years of customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience working in a hospital 
  • 1+ years of Network Services experience

What you will do: Client Projects: ● Implement mainly QAD ERP Customer Orders, Shipping, Packaging, Sourcing, Receiving, Inventory, Supplier Performance and Customer and Supplier Release Management modules but also other QAD solutions related to QAD ERP like EDI, Demand & Delivery or Automated Solutions (data collection automation) ● Work in a global consulting team delivering professional services to global clients ● Provide services, remotely mainly, though limited traveling can be required especially during certain critical implementation project phases (ex: go-live support) ● Perform a range of activities required to enable the client to successfully implement and utilize QAD applications ● Determine detailed activities on a project by project basis. Tasks may include system configuration, training, business process design, testing, gathering requirements for extensions and others as required ● Frequent and regular communication with clients. What you will do: Collaborate with product management to craft user-centered experiences using personas, storyboards, user journeys, and flowcharts. Represent the user’s point of view throughout the software development lifecycle. Consult and provide UX training and resources to QAD product teams to grow organizational UX maturity and skillsets. Design wireframes, prototypes, and final delivery mockups and documentation to illustrate design solutions that provide effective, efficient, and intuitive user experiences. Work closely with product management, engineering, senior leaders, and other stakeholders to define UX vision and strategy. Conduct outside-in research to gain deep understanding of “real world” customer needs and business goals, collect feedback and insights in order to drive design work. Verify and improve on designs through reviews, validations, and usability testing with end users. Present insights, ideas, and concepts to stakeholders for UX deliverables. Qualifications   Professional degree: Bachelor’s or advanced degree in HCI, graphic design, psychology, or equivalent experience. 5-7 years of professional experience  in product design, preferably in the ERP industry and/or with complex enterprise applications. Expert skills in interaction design with an excellent grasp of the UX process. Story telling - ability to tell simple user stories illustrating solutions. Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and analytical skills. Agile, adaptable, and capable of coordinating and delivering new products and features. Good aesthetic sense and attention to details. Expertise in creating mockups and/or clickable high fidelity prototypes based on an existing style. Experience with conducting user research. Computer skills:  Expertise with one or more wireframing or web design tools, such as Axure, Figma, AdobeXD, Balsamiq, or Illustrator is required. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JS, etc. Familiarity with user interface guidelines and best practices for major platforms (iOS, MacOS, Windows, Google, web design best practices) and an understanding of the limitations and tradeoffs of using various development technologies and standards (XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, etc.) Strong written and verbal English language skills.
