Job Description

The Centralized Research Group (CRG) collaborates closely with the firm’s Global Investment Banking (GIB), Global Corporate Banking (GCB) and Commercial Banking (CB) teams offering customized financial solutions across Mergers & Acquisitions, Equity / Debt capital raising, Credit, Treasury, Cash Management, Trade, and Markets, among others.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Marketing materials and deal support: Work with colleagues in Mumbai and across regional locations to prepare marketing materials including company profiles, public information brochures, bulletins, benchmarking analysis, pricing updates, earning summaries, treasury pitching materials, credit analysis and competitor analysis. Also support colleagues across geographies on execution projects
  • Financial analysis: Understand and learn to analyze a company’s financial statements. Set up trading and transaction comparables, valuation models and financial metric benchmarking for companies
  • Research: Source and interpret company / industry information from a variety of data sources (company reports, Internet, online databases, J.P. Morgan proprietary content). Learn to develop views on specific industries and start tracking them for developments / potential opportunities / new client prospecting
  • Industry or Product coverage: Work with colleagues in Mumbai and across regional locations to develop and apply industry / geographic market fundamentals (e.g. impact of economic/market conditions, competitive landscape, risks, trends) for clients across the globe. Also track a set of clients / emerging sectors / product themes with an aim to pitch potential ideas

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Under-graduate degree from a top tier institution with excellent academic record and a strong interest in making a career in finance
  • Strong communication skills (written as well as verbal) and an ability to precisely articulate thoughts
  • Close attention to detail and ability to deliver high quality output under pressure. Ability to efficiently multi-task and handle multiple deliverables / projects
  • Strong team player demonstrating integrity and ability to work with teams across geographies. Pro-active, self-starter and an ability to work independently with minimal guidance
  • Strong analytical bent of mind and quantitative skills
  • Awareness of banking solutions and services as well as knowledge of analyzing company financials and financial modeling skills in MS Office applications are a plus
  • Ensure the highest ethical standards and regulatory compliance within the firm

Title : Data Analyst – Morningstar Indexes    The Area : Morningstar Indexes Team leverages its expertise in equity research, manager research, asset allocation, and portfolio construction to create innovative investment solutions. It uses Morningstar`s intellectual property to create indexes that empower investors to achieve their goals at every stage of the investment process - market monitoring, benchmarking, and asset allocation. The unit offers a broad suite of global equity, bond, commodity, and asset allocation indexes.    The Role : Morningstar Indexes seeks an intelligent and creative professional for its Index Management and Analytics team. The primary function of the team is to maintain Morningstar indexes across asset classes, periodic methodology enhancements and provide research and analytics for client support. The team is also responsible for handling complex corporate events, regulatory compliance, and production automation. We are looking for a team member with basic knowledge of financial markets, statistical packages, data analytics or decision science. This position will be in Vashi, Navi Mumbai (India).    Responsibilities:   Have a very good understanding of market and Reference data – Total outstanding shares, free float, reference data.  Have knowledge about the various stock exchanges, boards, holiday calendars etc.  To source and ensure quality of input data used in index development and maintenance.  Know the treatment of different corporate actions on entity, price, shares, and float data.  UAT of system improvements, data validations  Create and maintain data dictionaries and dashboards.  Own and drive continuous improvement within the process through quality initiatives.  Manage data as per client-specific requirements, while at the same time adhering to Morningstar's set KPIs and KRAs  Discover and raise issues in work (including system, process, and collection methodology) and propose enhancement suggestion to further improve system functionality, process efficiency and data quality.    Requirements:   Bachelor’s degree in economics/ finance/business, master’s degree would be an added advantage.   0-2 years’ experience in the financial domain related to equity data particularly corporate actions and shares/price data.  Proficient with the data management policies, procedures, and common technical tools.  Passion for investing and knowledge of securities markets.  Basic to intermediate skills in SQL queries to understand database content and relationships.  Excellent command over Excel and other collaboration tools  Ability to collaborate with the global team and deliver quality outcomes under tight deadlines.  The candidate should exhibit a passion for innovation, and harbor a genuine belief in, and acceptance of Morningstar’s core values
