ABOUT THE ROLE:
Comcast has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to become a Senior Storage Engineer for Comcast Operations and Technology (O&T). O&T supports Enterprise Technology, Broadcast and Production systems across the Comcast portfolio globally. 

This role will be responsible for maintaining and supporting 24x7x365 high availability storage environments for Comcast. You will provide support for operational-based changes for all supported applications.

 

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Support all storage technologies and process lifecycles in the Comcast enterprise, specifically file, block, tape, and object storage systems - both on-prem and cloud
  • 24x7x365 shift lead and on-call support
  • NAS/SAN/Object/Cloud/Tape storage implementation & administration knowledge
  • Hands-on experience with data migrations
  • Day to day tickets & provide escalation support including 24x7 on-call support
  • Drive and work on storage administration tasks such as provisioning, masking, zoning, share & export creation
  • Monitor hardware and software alerts and provide timely resolution and root-cause analysis
  • Provide weekly and monthly capacity and performance reports to engineering and management
  • Proactively review and assess the storage portfolio where action is needed to ensure sufficient high-availability and standardization
  • Participate in investigations of storage-related application performance issues to identify systemic issues and root causes 
  • Upgrade and patch systems as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution
  • Experience in scripting and drive to automate routine tasks
  • Develop partnerships across engineering teams, including compute, network, database, automation, cyber, and application support for cross-facility support and engagement
  • Provide updates to management and clients on support and project tasks
  • Provide documentation of systems and support procedures to be utilized by the larger engineering and operations teams at the facility
  • Provide mentoring for other engineers at the facility
  • B.E or B.Tech. degree in Information Technology or related technical discipline
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience supporting and troubleshooting mid-to-large, high availability storage environments preferably for NetApp, EMC, Hitachi, Cloudian, LTO Tape Library, Cisco/Brocade Fibre Channel and cloud storage systems
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in planning, documenting, validating, and testing technical solutions in a global enterprise setting
  • Minimum 5+ years managing vendor relationships
  • Experience in storage performance, data replication, SAN based backup, load balancing, storage virtualization methods and SAN zoning/provisioning
  • Experience in storage technologies such as Fibre Channel, iSCSI, CiFS, NFS, Flash, RAID, LTO, object, etc.
  • Experience in Window/Linux Server configuration and administration
  • Experience in network infrastructure services, AD/DNS, data center wiring/fiber/connectivity requirements & toolsets
  • Thorough understanding of business continuity, disaster recovery and backup technologies, recovery scenarios, high availability designs and solutions
  • Must be willing to work evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays with little or no notice

  • Experience with network environments including high and low bandwidth infrastructures
  • Experience with DevOps/Automation Toolsets - Bash, Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Git, etc.
  • Familiar with monitoring/logging technologies – Nagios/OP5, Datadog, etc.
  • Hands-on experience on NetApp Cloud Insights and OCUM
  • Experience with cloud technologies and toolsets (AWS/Azure/GCP)
  • Experience with VMware/Virtualization
  • Hands-on experience with ITSM & Agile methodologies and tools such as ServiceNow and JIRA
  • Media Industry experience is preferred
