This role reports directly to the Head of Data & Analytics.

About the Role

In this opportunity as VP, Data & Analytics Architecture & Governance, you will:  

Develop and Deliver – In partnership with the VP Data Strategy & Business Operations you will create and evolve an enterprise-wide Data Architecture, including patterns, standards, and guidelines, that enables the future direction of our products, commercial systems, and processes.   

Be a Leader – Build and lead a team of data architects and data & model governance policy designers within the data architecture & governance team to design and building robust, scalable, and efficient and well governed data systems.  Provide thought leadership on data architecture trends and best practices.  Mentor and develop a high-performing team.

Be a Team Player – Working in a collaborative team-oriented environment, you will share information, value diverse ideas, partner with cross-functional and remote teams to ensure completeness and common understanding of the data architecture direction, roadmap, and requirements for the security and compliance of data systems in accordance with industry standards and regulations.

Have an Agile Mindset – With a strong sense of urgency, you will collaborate with IT, engineering, and business stakeholders to integrate data architecture governance into broader tech and business initiatives.  Drive the adoption of new technologies and data management practices that enhance our data capabilities.

About You

You're a fit for the role of VP Data & Analytics Architecture & Governance if your background includes:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

Minimum of 10 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Ability to successfully operate across organizational boundaries and to influence and guide. 

Robust analytical skills with the ability to synthesize business requirements with technology capabilities to produce coherent architectures and technical designs. 

Strong written and verbal communication experience including cultural and language awareness. 

Hands-on experience creating and evolving an enterprise data architecture, including transitional and target state architecture deliverables.

Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale modern cloud-native architectures, data engineering best practices, and modernizing legacy data architectures.

Strong knowledge of cloud database design, data modeling, and data warehousing principles.

Experience with a variety of distributed systems patterns including data caching, federated search, event driven, synchronous and asynchronous processing.

Familiarity with big data technologies, machine learning, and analytics platforms.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Experience with agile methodologies and a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle.

JOB DESCRIPTION The bank is looking to transform the way we manage data across the organisation, and you will be at the forefront of leading the promotion and implementation of the robust frameworks that support this transformation.   You will be part of the Chief Data Office specialist team, that works with data, technology, compliance, legal, anti-financial crime specialists and divisional/country leadership teams across the bank. Your responsibilities will be to support the Asia Pacific Regional Data Officer in his/her responsibilities involving implementation of the Data Management and Data Residency & Access frameworks across the DB Group in Asia Pacific region, with focus on the data governance and data quality management processes set by the Data Management Policy – DB Group.   You will support and facilitate the regional adoption of global data principles, policies, procedures, standards and tools to facilitate compliance to policies as well as other general initiatives of the global roadmap of data.   Key Roles & Responsibilities The main responsibility of the position is to be an effective lead member of the Regional Data Office and to support the APAC Regional Data Officer in all the following responsibility areas:    Data Management & Reporting Executing regional mandate (across divisions) on data management topics Drive the rollout of global data management and data quality initiatives.  Initiate and manage regional projects as needed to deliver systemic improvements to regional data quality.  Provide consultancy on data management topics to support interactions of regional management with local regulators. Support the regional and local entities in their efforts towards compliance with key data management policy requirements and regional priorities   Drive adoption of centrally provided procedures and toolsets by the regional management/ entities Support the regional staff appointed to Data Management roles (e.g., Data Owners, Data Architects) in executing their responsibilities  Support the local strategic initiatives by engaging them with the applicable SME’s in CDO. Support the application of the Data Management Maturity Model (DMMM) at regional level – as appropriate and agreed.  Support the APAC RDO contributions towards the central Chief Data Office team in the development, review and adaptation of framework artefacts (e.g., Policies, Procedures, KODs, Training materials, etc.) Drive the provision of reporting, metrics and content updates to relevant data management forums regarding Data Management in the APAC region Support APAC adoption of firm-wide cloud adoption initiatives with respect to Data Residency & storage, Cross border Data Access, Overseas data storage and sharing to offshore entities and related topics Monitor data management related regulatory changes in the APAC region and support gap analysis to DB policies and processes Prepare periodical status updates of RDO initiatives and obligations towards internal management and external regulators / authorities   Communications, Training & Stakeholder management Lead the communication of the data management vision, strategy, approach and focus to the region and countries.  Support the interactions between the APAC leadership and global/regional stakeholders Provide consultation support to facilitate interactions of APAC DB entity leadership with local regulators on data management topic areas. Support the regional strategic initiatives by engaging them with the applicable subject matter experts in global offices.   Your Skills and Experience: Primary Significant and demonstratable hands-on and relevant experience in data management (data governance, data quality, data architecture) in large, cross-jurisdiction bank/financial institutions Data Governance experience – working with data policies, procedures and controls, setting-up and managing working groups, defining and enforcing data ownership as well as data maintenance / quality controls / data issues and related remediation plans. Ability to drive a Data Culture throughout the organization through influence and no direct authority Excellent organizational skills and a high attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and to deliver to tight deadlines Extensive experience in process mapping, controls implementation, or requirements gathering and documentation Solid analytical skills in business and requirements management, including effective manipulation of Excel spreadsheets (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
