Job description 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project scope and technical needs and lead development of ECUs such as Low Voltage Battery Power Management Unit, Battery sensors, etc.
  • Define and balance all the requirements to be considered in the development of the power management components to ensure maximum commonality.
  • Responsible for component development in collaboration with suppliers and global counterparts.
  • Responsible for recommending the supplier. Drive technical concepts and ensure supplier agreements in place.
  • Put requirements on the components towards the supplier. Interact with the supplier and manage the work distribution.
  • Have the operational responsibility in the relationship with the supplier.
  • Secure cross-functional and business anchoring.
  • Define and follow the validation plan. Find right test objects for verification & collaborate with different stakeholders to execute all required testing.
  • Collaborate with in-house software development team to plan the supplier deliveries
  • Participate in project risk analyzes such as DFMEA, SFMEA, Functional safety and Cyber security assessments.
  • Drive installation concept, anchoring the finalized concept and ensure Documentation of solutions (releases).
  • Track the supplier development progress.
  • Follow the APQP process.
  • Follow the development process and release the documents like review of technical specification, part application approval, software and hardware component release.
  • Lead critical issues problem solving in collaboration with the supplier’s and within the team.
  • Capitalize knowledge around protection and distribution components.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement on tools, work methods and the development process.
  • Responsibility extended to deliver & execute a Product Strategy Roadmap of the area for few complex components and/or large set of less complex components.


Competencies:
On Specialist level the employee is a specialist in HW Electrical & Electronics Engineering typically obtained through education and work experience.

  • BE/B.Tech., ME/M.Tech in Electrical-, Electronics Engg (or similar) with 8 years or more of experience in Automotive Electrical domain.
  • Leading on complex group tasks/projects and actively developing team members.
  • Role model of cutting edge thinking and an established contributor to lifelong learning within the TD/BA as a master trainer, coach and/or mentor.
  • Solid T-shaped profile with definable expert knowledge within broad-based all-round toolkit.
  • Demonstrable influencer within the Volvo Group network.
  • Clear articulation of how he/she is creating value to the respective TD/BA beyond their part of the organization.
  • Good understanding on the working of different types of Automotive batteries such as AGM, GEL, Flooded batteries, Li-ion batteries.
  • Good exposure to Battery sensor algorithm development to secure reliable values from sensor based on vehicle configuration and application.
  • Good exposure to buck-boost converter design, inverter design, battery power management unit design as per the project needs.
  • Good exposure in ECU software architecture and logical design specification.
  • System knowledge on low voltage 24V power management like monitoring, controlling, logging functions and related components such as Alternators, Battery sensors, Batteries, Battery power management unit , Starter motors, Ultra-Capacitors, etc.
  • Working Knowledge on Functional Safety (ISO26262), Cyber Security, SFMEA and other quality tools.
  • Good exposure in root cause analysis and log data analysis using CANoe / CAN Analyzer tools.
  • Should have awareness on the application networks, ECU topologies, vehicle schematics, power distribution & grounding topologies.
  • Familiarity with toolchains like JIRA, Confluence and other PLM tools is a merit.
  • Working Knowledge on Internal Combustion Engine, Battery Electric Vehicle and Hybrid Electric vehicles.
  • Good understanding of automotive electrical systems and architecture.
  • Knowledge on current and upcoming vehicle regulations and emission norms.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) in English.
