JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Rackspace AEM Engineers are an extension of our Fanatical Support team and are responsible for providing deep application support and advisory services for the AEM platform and associated technologies. AEM Engineers are expected to work closely with Rackers, customers, and systems integrators to provide a seamless and customized design, architecture, and support experience. Engineers engage to resolve customer issues, manage ongoing technical projects, and support our AEM Architects, who act as thought leaders by shaping and defining the offering.  

The Engineer will support and maintain customer AEM configurations through all phases of the customer lifecycle including initial design, implementation, performance tuning, and security hardening. In addition, this role will assist and support the AEM Architect in developing automation around the AEM platform to provide scalable and repeatable solutions for application installation and customer deployments. Acting as a partner to our customers and internal teams, the AEM Engineer is responsible for creating customer loyalty through extensive knowledge of application and infrastructure performance tuning, and by working with internal teams to deliver a comprehensive, consistent, and Fanatical customer experience. 

The AEM Engineer takes on the additional responsibilities of representing Rackspace in product meetings and to third-party vendors, and in mentoring and developing more junior team members. The AEM Engineer will often be tasked with resolving complex customer issues, facilitating OS-specific meetings and training sessions for knowledge sharing, managing long-running projects for internal and external customers, and owning the technical development of the Rackspace Application Services (RAS) team, specific to AEM product & services. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

•Responsible for partnering with our customers to implement, deploy, and troubleshoot Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) solutions for high-traffic websites.

 

JOB COMPLEXITY:

•Review and recommend solutions based on customer specifications.

•Analyze, evaluate, test, debug, document, and implement complex AEM solutions.

•Participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and selection of hardware and software solutions.

•Perform project management of estimating, scheduling, and monitoring tasks.

•Perform engineering tasks associated with the analysis, design, and deployment of computer hardware, and/or operating systems.

•Interface with different departments within the organization regarding new deployments.

•Monitor applications for expected results and work with customers to optimize performance.

 

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or a related technical field preferred.

•At least 5 years of Systems administration experience, including 3 – 5 years of combined engineering experience in content management system (CMS) solutions support, network design, operational support, and hands-on implementation and configuration of network infrastructure including experience with Java/J2EE, AEM, and Jenkins/Hudson.

•HS Diploma or equivalent required.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:

•Advanced working knowledge of the AEM on-premise application stack (6.0 or greater required, 6.4-6.5 preferred).

•Strong understanding of AEM components including CRX 2, CRX 3 (Oak), Apache Sling, OSGi, TarMK, and MongoMK.

•Hands-on experience with related software, including Apache webserver, MongoDB, SOLR, and continuous integration tools like Jenkins/Hudson is a plus.

•Strong understanding/practical experience of Linux-based distributions (RHEL and CentOS a plus).

•Advanced knowledge of system architecture, system sizing, and/or J2EE.

•Working knowledge of cloud-hosting platforms (VMWare, AWS, Azure, GCP) is strongly desired. 

•Knowledge of web development technologies such as JSP, HTML, JS, CSS, and AJAX.

•Comfortable driving customer conversations, from technical to high-level business audiences.

•Ability to work with development teams on the deployment and support of web-based applications.

•Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.

•Solid skills in documenting customer requirements, specifications, and preexisting solutions.

•Proven ability to deploy and maintain large-scale, customer-facing internet applications.
