JOB DESCRIPTION Who You’ll Work With In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn a wide range of core Ethernet Technologies with architectural exposure to design and develop Ethernet Switching as applied to both Public and Private cloud infrastructure. You will work on the intricacies of the mission-critical infrastructure that enables the world-class, multi-layered Nexus switches. In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate in cross-functional teamwork and be exposed to all facets of the software development cycle from innovation, marketing requirement to product delivery. What You’ll Do Participate on a project team of engineers involved in the development of software for the Nexus Series switch product family, with emphasis in L2, L3, VXLAN and MPLS areas Define, architect, design, and deliver new features for the Nexus Series platforms. Maintain existing features and champion innovative ways to constantly improve the software. Influence the design of interfaces between products to ensure inter-operability. Develop large portions of software independently and rapidly. Who You Are Strong C programming skills. Knowledge of distributed systems, Operating System fundamentals Knowledge of Linux OS Internals Familiarity with Ethernet Switching Silicon (Merchant or Custom Silicon) Embedded system software development Strong problem solving and software development/trouble shooting skills Hands on experience on switch/router embedded system software development. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
