You’ll be a Professional Engineer in a squad that develops, maintains and executes automated and manual testing to prove the quality of the Wireless delivery of the BT Home Hubs. In the squad, you will contribute to the full agile lifecycle, putting the Wi-Fi product features through their paces to validate for our customers. You’ll write code for tests, configure our manual and automation test tools, analyze results, prepare and share our result data to the decision-making process for releases and review in-life data for our customer base.
We use our expertise and analysis skills to ensure the test coverage of the Wi-Fi testing within the CPE proves that the CPE provides ‘the best in class’ Wi-Fi experience for our Broadband and TV customers – come and join us to see your skills make a real difference to the people you see every day.
Experience Required
Mandatory
•Experience of testing IEEE standards 802.11
•Experience with CPE testing, specifically around the Wi-Fi Element of the CPE
•Knowledge of the Radio spectrum and where Wi-Fi fits within the spectrum
•Experience with RF Spectrum and Wi-Fi analysers and Wi-Fi test tools
•Knowledge of Wi-Fi standards and implementation
•Have a proven ability to learn new technologies and put these into practice
Preferred
•CWNA or equivalent experience of working with Wi-Fi standards and testing techniques
•Experience of working with Windows / Linux
•Experience with IP network solutions
Skills:
Lab test and build technologies: Experience with testing the Wi-Fi element of CPE and WFA certification programs. Test scripting, standard or bespoke hardware and/or software test automation tools, and agile test methodologies
Excellent communication skills: Capable of explaining technical issues and successes to other member of the team and to Product stakeholders
Testing concepts: Hands on experience implementing automated testing concepts such as TDD, BDD and CI/CD
Team player: Ability to understand the bigger picture and prioritise the most customer impacting issues, working as a team player who constantly shares knowledge and coaches others
Improvement focus - Have a proven ability to learn new technologies and put these into practice
Challenging nature – Will question and challenge, based on data – both to deepen understanding of how third-party software is operating, and to champion good customer experience for our customers
What you’ll be doing
• Develops and maintains the Wi-Fi test capability for new and existing products within the Broadband portfolio
• Responsible for keeping test suites current and liaising with the Senior Engineer to create and integrate new test suites as they become available
• Managing the test rigs and applying upgrades and improvements to capacity when needed
• Adheres to engineering best practices
• Applies agile principles to the way features are tested and validated
• Engages in agile lifecycle ceremonies
• Analyses and resolves issues
• Innovates with the available test tools and seeks to improve the level of automation
• Analyses results from automated tests and can interpret results into meaningful reports for stakeholders
• Analyses data from in-life devices to observe patterns of issues that could be observed and caught with automated tests
