How You Will Contribute:

CIENA's Packet products portfolio comprises of a broad family of products for access and aggregation tiers of the network.  Typically spanning from the Metro edge to the customer edge, these products provide Carrier Ethernet/MPLS/G.8032/TDM services in mobile backhaul, enterprise and residential domains.The Packet Software and Access R&D organization is responsible for delivering platform-independent Service Aware Operating System (SAOS), Access products and next-generation virtualized operating system to support Virtualized/SDN/NFV applications.

Functional engineer will be responsible for developing functional test strategies, test plans, test execution along with automation suite for platform-independent current and next-generation packet software encompassing the broad spectrum of CIENA's networking products. You will get an opportunity to innovate and influence new technologies that shape the future of Next Generation networks.

• Requires continuous research to ensure software features meet identified standards and product functional requirements.
• Develop, execute and automate functional test plans to verify product capabilities
• Execution of test cases and reporting test results with artifacts using Quality Center (QC)
• Work closely with engineers across teams to ensure quality for the features
• Build in-depth knowledge of product architecture and develop ability to root-cause issues
• Coordinate activities with North America test and development teams on a need basis
• FS and Test Plan / script Reviews: Able to host test plan reviews with minimal supervision for assigned features.   Attend independently and provide comments specific to the functional requirements for FS reviews for assigned features

The Must Haves:

• 1+ years of relevant experience in telecommunications, test and automation
• Position requires troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Good in various scripting languages for test automation (TCL, Python)
• Understand Software Development Life Cycle
• Hands-on experience with MPLS and / or L3 technologies.
• Able to think key scenarios, write test cases, automate & execute test cases.
• Fluency and experience in data communication systems, networking, Ethernet switches.
• Experience with at least one networking protocols: TCP/IP, Ethernet, 802.1Q, GRE, VXLAN, VLAN, L2VPN, L3VPN, MPLS, G.8032, BGP, Network Security
• Experience with traffic generators such as Ixia, Spirent.

The Good To Haves:

• Conducts Knowledge Sharing Sessions: Basic to moderate topics, including specific product features or functional areas related to the assigned features
• Experience on IxNetwork
• Good knowledge of network design and deployment scenarios in Carrier/Metro Ethernet Space
