How You Will Contribute:

We at Routing and Switching Product Verification team are looking for a Functional Test engineer who will be taking care of developing functional test strategies, test plans, test execution along with automation suite development for platform-independent current and next-generation packet software encompassing the broad spectrum of CIENA's networking products.

You will have an influential and meaningful role as you will get an opportunity to innovate and influence new technologies that craft the future of Next Generation networks.

• Requires continuous research to ensure software features meet identified standards and product functional requirements.
• Develop, complete and automate functional test plans to verify product capabilities.
• Execution of test cases and reporting test results with artifacts using TestRail or Quality Center (QC)
• Prepare/Automate robust, quality, S&P scripts with robustness and longevity also in perspective with optimal CPU and memory measurement reading mechanisms, and feature/systemic performance measurement mechanisms. 
• Use JIRA to file defects following proper template, and all logs/debug command output/traffic flow footprint, etc.  relevant to the problem description.
• Assist development engineers in product defect diagnosis/debugging/reproduction and verification of fixes.
• Execution of test cases and reporting test results with artifacts using Test Rail
• Work closely with engineers across teams/geographies to ensure quality for the features.
• Conducts Knowledge Sharing Sessions (Desirable): Basic to moderate topics, including specific product feature or functional areas related the assigned features.
• Able to manage feature and schedule churns with minimal guidance.
• Contribute to team deliverable through involvement in agile scrum development sprints.
• FS and Test Plan / script Reviews: Able to host test plan reviews under mentorship.

The Must Haves:

• 6+ years of experience in telecommunications and testing.
• The position requires troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Understand Software Development Process
• Able to think key scenarios, write test cases, automate & implement test cases for Timing and related protocols and standards.
• Adaptability: Able to handle feature and schedule churns
• Automation Experience preferable in Python.
• Experience with Routing & Switching technologies
• Proficiency and experience in data communication systems, networking, Ethernet switches.
• Testing experience on the following Timing Profiles: - G.8275.1, G.8275.2, G.8262, APTS.
• Experience in carrying out extensive testing of PRTC, GNSS, T-GM, T-BC, T-TSC.

Good to Have:

• Hands-on experience with System timing is required. L2/L3 topologies like ISIS/OSPF, BGP, MPLS would be add-on.
• Experience with traffic generators such as Ixia, Spirent would be plus.
• Knowledge of network design and deployment scenarios in Carrier/Metro Ethernet Space is plus.
