The Offshore Infrastructure & AWS Support Engineer will be a pivotal figure in ensuring the seamless operation and support of our infrastructure and AWS environments. This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, from managing network systems for the offshore office in India to overseeing AWS infrastructure, telecommunications and security infrastructure. The engineer will collaborate closely with the stateside SR System Administrator and Infrastructure team, acting as both support and backup. This is a solo position, offering a unique opportunity to be the pioneering member of our offshore infrastructure team.
As the Offshore Infrastructure & AWS Support Engineer, you will be the cornerstone ensuring the smooth operation of our offshore technical environments. You will work closely with stateside teams, acting as both support and backup, ensuring our systems are always operational and secure. This role offers a unique opportunity to take ownership, drive initiatives, and be the go-to expert for our offshore infrastructure/aws needs. Your dedication will ensure our teams can work efficiently, our systems remain robust, and our organization remains at the forefront of technological advancements.
What you will do
• Approve code deployments and maintain aws environments being used by the business and clients
• Maintain current automation in AWS natively and running across various systems
• Develop documentation, SOPs, Incidents management
• Creates and reviews application deployment procedures utilizing best practices in the industry.
• Promotes automation and streamlining of existing business processes.
• Support current and future AWS deployments
• Responds to complex technical problems that correspond to the operations of the business
• Troubleshooting application deployments for front-end and back-end configurations
• Make recommendations for application architecture and functionality
• Support AWS initiatives for BSI Engineering Team
• Study existing technology landscape and understand current application workloads
• Support end users w/ DevOPS related issues. Communicate clearly and efficiently with end users for troubleshooting.
• Setup process for services, tools for cloud management
• Manage and maintain our infrastructure components, including Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco network switches, Hyper-V, and a mix of Windows and Ubuntu operating systems.
• Ensure the high availability and performance of our infrastructure systems, promptly addressing any issues or outages.
• Oversee and manage the telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring clear and uninterrupted communication channels.
• Maintain the audio/video infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance for meetings, presentations, and other organizational needs.
• Oversee the security infrastructure, ensuring all systems, networks, and data are protected against threats.
• Collaborate with the security team to implement and maintain security protocols and measures.
• Act as a backup to the stateside SR System Administrator, ensuring continuity in their absence.
• Collaborate closely with the stateside Infrastructure team, providing support and insights from the offshore perspective.
• Manage and maintain ISP internet connections, ensuring high uptime and addressing any connectivity issues promptly.
• Liaise with ISP providers, ensuring we get the best service and addressing any concerns or issues.
• Manage and maintain printers and other peripheral devices, ensuring they are operational, updated, and meet the organization's needs.
• Follow ITIL best practices.
What we are looking for
• Proven experience in managing and supporting infrastructure/aws systems
• Associate degree in information technology or related field (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
• AWS Solutions Architect Associate or DevOps Associate preferred but not required.
• 3 year of experience support AWS systems
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python, PowerShell
• Working knowledge of project management and AWS analytics
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Working Knowledge with production monitoring concepts and implementation including synthetic, real user, application performance, system, log, time-series
• Working knowledge of source control and pipeline deployments are a plus (Azure DevOps)
• Working Knowledge of custom code scripting, automation
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deliver under strict deadlines.
