In this role, you’ll work closely with an interdisciplinary team of designers, researchers, PMs, Engineers, Data scientists to deliver the next generation of experiences for Microsoft Enterprise Commerce. You bring your skills to your fellow design collaborators with optimism, a retractable ego, and an open mind.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Principal UX designer on our team, you’ll be responsible for  

  1. Driving design best practices, upleveling the quality and craft of UX design across the team 
  2. Defining a structural design framework to drive design hygiene and reuse across commerce products encompassing consistency, accessibility, responsiveness, reuse and performance 
  3. Driving design and innovation across several facets of the design process, including sketching, prototyping, storyboarding, information architecture, interaction design, and usability to high quality standards, follow processes, and deliver on schedule 
  4. Enhance existing design library and find ways to improve and operationalize coherence across solution areas 
  5. Advocate for the user and champion industry-leading, inclusive, and user-centered design practices.  Generate energy to implement solutions across internal and external stakeholders using a combination of storytelling techniques involving data, industry best practices, business and user impact 
  6. Work with a multidisciplinary and cross product teams to deliver consumer grade end-to-end user experiences  
  7. Drive a variety of design sprints and jam sessions with stakeholders and partners    
  8. Create an end to end view of the systems to identify opportunity areas 
  9. Work within and help evolve design processes that promote collaboration, transparency, and agility       
  10. Stay current on design trends, technologies, and tools, and incorporate them into the design team's work as appropriate.    
  11. Identify opportunities to collaborate and engage with design research and PMs to define problem statements 
  12.  Establish processes and best practices for achieving operational excellence including planning, tracking, and reviewing design artifacts across studio 

QUALIFICATION

  • 8+ years of industry experience in interaction / product design  
  • Masters's degree in Design (e.g., user experience, HCI, graphic) or equivalent professional experience 
  • Strong design portfolio demonstrating mastery over the craft of design across tools and best practices and ability to think creatively and critically about design problems  
  • Candidate should be able to demonstrate an understanding of front end  technology in as much as it drives impact on on experiences. Should be able to speak the language of engineers and collaborate with engineering teams on structural aspects of design such as performance, accessibility and scalability 
  • Ability to scope and estimate efforts accurately and prioritize tasks and goals independently. Should be able to lead the inculcation of design ops best practices across studio 
  • A high-quality portfolio review presentation is required to interview for this role. Your presentation should communicate your work experience and demonstrate your design and communication skills.
