The Senior Manager, IT & Systems Administration is a crucial role in our organization responsible for overseeing and managing our company’s information technology needs, projects and systems. This role coordinates the team members who maintain IT infrastructure. The role is strategic and operational, with a need to ensure IT systems provide maximum business value. The role also includes communication to IT stakeholders and IT Security teams regarding control deficiencies and compliance metrics based on the review of assessment details in the cybersecurity team’s Governance, Risk and Compliance platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation of computer systems and ensure the uptime, performance, resources, and security of the infrastructure is maintained.
- Ensure the establishment and execution of all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
- Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, security, wireless implementations, and so on, in consultation with leadership.
- Maintain metrics regarding compliance of systems with control measures based on industry recognized frameworks (NIST, ISO, Hitrust, etc).
- Ensure assessments are completed timely and thoroughly reviewed, with an ability to escalate delays and deficiencies to team leadership.
- Has a solid understanding of IT Security controls and industry standard frameworks (NIST, ISO, COBIT, etc.) and can interpret the requirements and requests raised by stakeholders to complete quarterly assessment process.
- Analyzes and interprets complex information security control risks, its relationship to user behavior and data requirements, and draws conclusions that can then be shared to both technical and non-technical teams to support improvement in security control compliance.
- Supports IT Security standards/procedures/policies where needed.
- Collaborates with Compliance team to ensure controls are well-documented and complied with and supports deviations through facilitation of the exception process in Compliance platform.
- Actively participates in the Information Security Governance process and monthly Risk and Compliance working group.
- Familiarity of compensating control measures to effectively mitigate risk in technical environments.
- Familiarity with complex IT environments with factual and theoretical knowledge to identify and retrieve information.
- Direct and administrate a team of IT professionals, and where necessary, conduct performance reviews and corrective action.
- Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
- Maintain the company’s data stores and conduct capacity and resource planning to ensure continuity of operations.
- Direct operations in executing production tasks according to a documented schedule that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Maintain regular and open communication within the department and the company regarding IT activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Proven experience as a IT Manager or similar managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of hardware, servers, wide area networks, operating systems (Windows and MacOS or Linux), and security protocols.
- Proficient in the use of AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure services.
- Experience with system installation, configuration, and analysis.
- Thorough understanding of networking protocols and devices.
- Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.
- Professional IT Certifications, such as Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, ITIL, or similar are advantageous.
- Must be a self-motivator and collaborator.
- Enthusiastic about continuous learning and keeping up with latest security certifications and standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be willing to work on a distributed team and global timings and to work outside of normal business hours as necessary, including weekends and evenings.
