Job Summary

Responsible for participating as an technical expert in project teams, troubleshooting operational issues, providing technical solutions to operational problems, contributing to new products implementation, implementing existing products and services and providing the overall upkeep and maintenance of designated areas of engineering. Interfaces with vendors, Engineering and peer operations organizations. Acts in compliance with industry and Company technical requirements, standards, policies and procedures. Provides technical leadership to junior Engineers and project teams. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. Does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities. May direct workflow and act as a technical lead. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

• Work with a wide range of stakeholders to create solutions from concept stage to production
• Designing, solutions.
• Improving the performance of existing solutions.
• Providing training to other engineers. You will be a technical lead for our SREs, software developers, and monitoring engineers working in the Observability & Monitoring team.
• Maintaining and upgrading existing systems. You will own the infrastructure platform (patching, vulnerability fixes, compliance and support) for the monitoring platform.
• Recommending new technologies that can help increase productivity, sharing ideas with the team and wider departments in our regular showcases.
• Supervising and overseeing the technical aspects of projects.
• Investigating related feedback (both positive and negative) and making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance.Regularly attending team meetings to discuss projects, ideas, and put forward solutions.You will need to be a hands-on person for all of the work in the team and a source of ideas to continuously improve.
• You will review the architecture of the monitoring layer keeping it up to date using best practices.

Employees at all levels are expected to:

7+ years experience in monitoring development / DevOps / unix system administrarion / database administration

5+ year experience in a monitoring role or DevOps

Understanding of the build and support pipelines for Grafana

Understand and support onboarding and testing of services to Grafana.

Education

Bachelor's Degree

While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.
