As an Associate Principal Engineer with Arcadis' Global Excellence Centre, you will provide design and delivery support throughout the project lifecycle. You will prepare and produce railway signalling designs and ensure that all deliverables meet Arcadis'/client procedures. You will also assist with design assurance activities and mentor junior staff. The role requires technical responsibilities, bid support, and client relationship management. You will contribute to improving project delivery through automation and participate in team training plans for upskilling. Qualifications include experience in railway signalling designs, knowledge of standards and design processes, and proficiency in CAD packages.

As an Associate Principal Engineer, you are required to:
- Provide day-to-day design and delivery support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and produce railway signalling designs, specifications, and reports using mandatory signalling principles as needed.
- Ensure that all deliverables meet Arcadis’/client procedures.
- Assist the Designer Manager or Responsible Engineer with design assurance activities such as audits, design integration, and work package management.
- Liaison and meetings with others, such as other discipline teams, project stakeholders and contractors.
- Developing junior staff through mentoring and trainings.
Role accountabilities:
You are expected to start taking on technical responsibilities, overseeing the work and development of multiple colleagues working on complex projects across signaling discipline.
- You perform the independent technical review for projects of moderate complexity.
- You guide teams through the technical decision-making process and provide alternative solutions in there are changes to project parameters.
- You would provide input into specific technical aspects of individual bids to support the production of high-winning bids.
- You manage client relationships and contribute to pursuits.
- You contribute to the further development of standard design processes.
- You contribute to new options to further improve project delivery through automation.
- You contribute to the development of team training plans and make a major contribution to upskilling and training.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 10+ yrs. experience in railway signalling designs of UK or Australia or Indian Railways.
- Hold a valid IRSE 1.1.550 Signalling Principles Designer License. Candidates with a Designer Licence with evidence towards a principles licence application may be considered.
- Knowledge of UK railway standards, design processes and procedures applicable for outline (scheme development) and/or detailed designs.
- Strong commitment towards delivering signalling designs that adhere to the highest standards of safety and quality, as well as a comprehensive understanding of risk assessment/hazard identification, management, and mitigation throughout the signalling design process.
- Evidence of professional development and upkeep of design skills, experience, and training records.
- Competent with the use of industry-standard CAD packages and signalling design tools for the development of detailed design and/or signalling scheme development.
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with team members, clients, and other stakeholders as required
- Experience with signalling design within the context of multidisciplinary rail projects.
- Experience in the development of signalling schemes (GRIP 2-4), with extensive knowledge of UK railway standards and design processes.
- Experience in the development of signalling detailed designs (GRIP 5) for conventional relay-based interlockings and/or modern SSI/CBI interlockings, as well as a strong understanding of UK standards and design processes.
- Knowledge of document management using electronic document management systems (e.g., ProjectWise).
- Diploma OR B/Tech in relevant field ( Electrical / Electronics / Communications)
