Role Description

The IB Strategy & Competitor Analysis offshore team analyses and reviews Deutsche Bank’s performance vis-à-vis leading global banks, both qualitatively and quantitatively. It also supports the senior management in taking decisions regarding the business, in light of performance analysis, industry trends, regulatory outlook and other factors. The team also provides support in preparation of various briefing documents and presentations to help senior management in their internal and external communications.

 

Major work deliverables produced by the team on a regular basis include:

  • Presentation materials for senior management internal and external communications
  • Strategic analyses that help shape senior management thinking and decisions.
  • Detailed briefing documents outlining peer performance after their earnings release each quarter.
  • Competitor Review: a comprehensive document to report quarterly performance of the global investment banking industry, DB and its core peers. Covers revenues, VaR, market performance, and strategic and regulatory developments at the leading banks.

Your key responsibilities

  • Contribute in the overall team’s workflow – ensuring that deliverables are completed accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Assist the team in writing/updating commentary based on analysis of competitor results and broad industry trends.
  • Prepare and update all base documents for each competitor by highlighting and incorporating financials including re-statements (if any)
  • Capture, analyse and present the competitor data (including quantitative and qualitative data) in a meaningful manner.
  • Assist in analysis of internal/external data based on ad-hoc requests received from senior management.
  • Be able to learn content quickly – although investment banking experience is not a pre-requisite, the role involves researching and analysing new topics on a regular basis.
  • Be creative in applying knowledge and skills to research and analysis – should be able to take an issue and think around potential solutions and drive these to a conclusion.
