Concept Development Planning for Upstream and Low Carbon Solutions plays a key role in the early maturation of Exxon Mobil's business opportunities.  It includes the creation of conceptual development plans, integration of data across functions (e.g., engineers, geoscientists, operators, and commercial) to build and test business cases, and management of an opportunity through the activities of concept selection and business-line decision to proceed into front-end engineering design (FEED).  As custodians of the Corporation’s opportunity management framework, Development Planners integrate global technical, commercial, and project expertise to evaluate options, characterize risks, and provide the right information and perspectives to drive unbiased, value-based decision making. Personnel in this team demonstrate the following skills:

 

  • Technical depth of knowledge in the oil and gas industry, preferably with hands-on experience (e.g., projects, drilling, operations)
  • Commercial/profitability analysis to build, run, and interpret results of economic models.
  • Business acumen, use of judgement, and an analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Decision-framing and decision-making in an environment of high uncertainty
  • Coordination, collaboration, and influence without direct authority to lead teams and manage interfaces.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written

Primary Job Functions

 

  • Execute opportunity evaluations; generate appropriate screening concepts, develop or lead the development of the technical, execution, and commercial bases, and analyze resulting risks and economic metrics in pursuit of maximizing shareholder value.
  • Understand developmental, operational, fiscal, and Corporate strategic levers to explore and test pathways to commerciality and profitability.
  • Identify, characterize, and communicate the opportunity’s critical value drivers, risks and uncertainties
  • Define, acquire, and analyze information needed to reduce uncertainties sufficiently to establish the business case, as appropriate for the asset type and phase of development
  • Develop, maintain, and use economic models and their results to support business decisions
  • Represent recommended course of action to senior decision makers, including external stakeholders such as co-venture company managers and government authorities.

Skills and Qualifications       

                                               

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management or Geoscience
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in the hydrocarbon industry or an energy-adjacent industry
  • Willingness to relocate to Bengaluru.

What role you will play in our team   The Project Controls Engineer (PCE) implements overall project controls direction through application of systems and methods for estimate development, cost control, planning and reporting, progress measurement, schedule development/control and management of change. What will you do   Primary Job Functions   Provide overall project cost, schedule, estimating, progress measurement, and change management leadership and expertise: Manage Project Cost and Schedule throughout the project life cycle. Fully understand the scope of the project, contractual requirements, identify the major milestones and set clear priorities for the project team. Lead the cost and schedule estimates for various Gate reviews and participate in the preparation of Gate packages. Mentor junior project controls engineers and ensure the technical quality and timeliness of work. Serve as the budget custodian, lead financial close-out of the project and participate in other project close-out activities.     Stewards Project cost/schedule with ongoing project analysis, reporting, forecasting, budgeting and Change Management: Coordinate the collecting, analyzing, and reporting of project cost and schedule control information to ensure overall project status is assessed, potential problem areas are identified. Analyze trends, prepare forecasts, opportunities and vulnerabilities. Administer the project change control process and communicate implication of changes. Steward the overall Change Management process:   Monitoring and appraising the performance of the Contractor(s) in the areas of cost control, progress measurement and control. Ensure that proper and effective project control measures are executed by the Contractor. Review and endorse the plans and procedures developed by the contractor. Ensure implementation of the same. Review and endorse progress and cost/schedule baselines and forecast prepared by contractors. Analyze cost/schedule and progress reports and trends developed by contractor. Review cost bases of contractor's Change Proposals / Orders Assist in developing/reviewing cost corrective actions and recovery plans and making sure needed actions/plans are implemented.   Develop cost and schedule estimates to support opportunity assessments, Project funding, Project reviews, and ad hoc requests. What role you will play in our team   The Bengaluru Technology Center Process Engineering Group is building a world class team of Process Engineers, with demonstrated design/operations experience and technical/business judgment capabilities, to support all phases of the Facility Lifecycle:   Conceptual Engineering (Concept Selection, Preliminary Front End Engineering Design [Pre-FEED] Project Execution (FEED and Detailed Design/EPC, Start-up)   Successful candidates will develop their skills and abilities within role in the following areas to lead/be part of a team supporting a wide variety of projects and/or operating facilities, ranging from:  small brownfield projects to major capital projects, greenfield to brownfield, onshore to offshore, sweet to sour designs, conventional oil and gas to LNG and downstream Refining and Chemicals.  They will be highly integrated with project delivery organizations located outside of India and will work as part of an extended international team in a highly distributed organization, using virtual communication as well as facilitating high quality execution via our Indian contracting partners. This is an office-based position in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. What you will do   Primary Job Functions The Process Engineering team will be responsible for the following:   Conceptual Engineering:   Executing Facility Concept Selection and Pre-FEED Capable of leading capital project development or design efforts through the company Capital Project System Leading or as part of an integrated team, develop scope definition for various facility concepts and analyzing/recommending results to maximize business value. Ensure full alignment of recommended scope with Business Teams, Manufacturing Site/Operations, Process Technology Specialists and Engineering Specialists providing design input to cost estimating models. Develop required deliverables:  Process Simulation models, Equipment Lists, Flow Diagrams (Block, Process, Utility), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Equipment Data Sheets, Layouts, Design Philosophies, Heat & Material Balances, Design Basis documentation, Optimization/Cost Reduction studies, Benchmarking facility design against previous projects / operating facilities. Provide mentoring, oversight and perform technical reviews of the work of less experienced process designers, ensuring delivery of quality and capital efficiency while meeting schedule requirements.   Engineering Execution:   Providing Engineering Surveillance of Facilities/Process Engineering deliverables required for FEED and Detailed Design/EPC execution. Ensuring compliance with job specification, design methods and safety factors are correctly applied in the design. ·Providing operability reviews for startup, normal, turndown, and shutdown modes. Establishing design basis for abnormal operating conditions Development and review of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), heat and material balances (H&MBs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for process safety and operability considerations.  Selection and specification of process and process control components Participate/lead design reviews, Risk Assessments, HAZOPs, vendor bid evaluations, and project readiness reviews. Development of the schedule, recommended deliverables, and labor hour estimate for process engineering.  Measurement and reporting of physical progress. Participate in planning and work allocation process for the process design discipline. Develop planning documentation for internal company reviews for funding recommendations. About You Skills and Qualifications   Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, with GPA 7.0 or above Minimum of 5 years of process engineering experience in the oil and gas industry        Technical Experience in oil and gas production facilities or Refining and Chemical facilities, including operating, technical support, or design experience in one or more of the following process areas: Conventional Onshore and Offshore Oil and Gas LNG  (Regasification and Liquefaction) Sour Oil and Gas Treatment NGL recovery Produced Water Treatment      Associated Utilities and Safety Systems Refining Processes Chemical Processes Hydrogen generation Carbon sequestration  Familiarity with the selection and application of process and utilities systems in the process areas listed above Familiarity with safety aspects in design (API 14C/J recommended practices, relief and blowdown, passive and active fire protection, etc.) Ability to design new process equipment and rate existing process equipment to determine if it is suitable for modified operating parameters.
