We are seeking a self-motivated and productive Network Engineer to work on new and exciting products. Akamai's application acceleration systems aim to improve the performance and reliability of how applications perform over U.S. Government networks. This unique opportunity is in a dynamic environment with some of the industry's top engineers, building one of the world's largest distributed systems.

As a Senior Field Network Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing network engineering expertise to the Government to support Akamai services and their implementations on Government networks.
  • Engineering, managing, and implementing Akamai equipment and capabilities in support of Government programs and provide operational continuity between the Government and Akamai.
  • Becoming the Government's subject matter expert on Akamai technologies.
  • Building network configurations.
  • Documenting networks and device inventory
  • Traveling on occasion to global Department of Defense facilities.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • 8 years experience and a Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, related field or equivalent.
  • Have Secret Security Clearance
  • Demonstrate network engineering and programmatic experience as well as network implementation and configuration management
  • Have a solid understanding of IP networking including, routing (BGP, OSPF), switching, encapsulation, addressing protocols, VPN, MPLS
  • Be experienced with enterprise networks and DoD's NIPRNet and SIPRNet
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of network security principles and practices
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $93,656 - $140,803/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
