SUMMARY : Maintain, repair and upgrade surveying equipment (including GPS, TPS, construction lasers, computers and software) and/or other Leica Geosystems and/or 3rd party equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The person in this role will learn and assist with: performing service diagnostics and the preparation of estimates repairing of equipment as instructed completing equipment adjustments and cleaning services as assigned checking service diagnostics programs and making recommendations supporting service, support and sales personnel providing assistance and answering customer inquiries related to service issues adhering to Leica Geosystems service protocols Desired Skills QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, the individual will be trained to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate degree (AA) in Electronics or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, procedure manuals and service protocols. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Bilingual skills are a plus. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY : Ability to gather information, diagnose and apply the solution to technical problems. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The position generally requires sitting at a work bench, speaking on the telephone and working at the computer for most of the day. Therefore, the individual must be able to sit, reach for materials, use hands to handle and feel work items, and communicate with others. Most of the lifting involved is of items weighing fifty pounds or less. Some lifting of items 50 - 100 pounds is required. The position has vision requirements including the ability to adjust focus or adjust the object to bring it into sharp focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position works under normal office conditions with NO EXPOSURE to fumes, outdoor weather conditions, or toxic chemicals. The noise level is that of a business office with moderate noise due to computers, printers and light traffic. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Some travel for training may be required, but in general, minimal travel is required once past the initial training period. COMPUTER SKILLS: Strong computer skills, including software/hardware installation and configuration and troubleshooting in a Windows environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
