Job description 

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Cloud engineer within our Platform Engineering Pre-CI team. Acting in the capacity of a Senior role, this position focuses on various cloud-based development and automation, specifically GitHub and Azure DevOps. The engineer will design, provide, and support services to ensure that these automation services are patterned, implemented, maintained, and highly available as deployed for business applications running in the cloud.

 

About the Role

As the Senior Cloud Engineer  you will:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science, Information Technology, (B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA) with 2-4 years of previous software development experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge on software engineering methods such as Object Oriented Programming concepts.
  • Knowledge of writing code in other languages/scripts such as C#, Python, JavaScript, Typescript.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of source control management systems and frameworks such as GitHub, ADO, TFS.
  • Demonstrated knowledge developing and interacting with Rest API and GraphQL.
  • Working with Microservices Architecture, test-driven development practices, Azure / AWS will all be a good add-on experience.
  • Ability to learn new languages and technologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Analytical programming, logical writing, analysis, and excellent debugging skills.
  • Have strong attention to detail and strong numeric and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English language.
  • Have the ability to work on projects/issues solo as well as work in a team environment.

 

About You

As the Senior Cloud Engineer  you will

  • Write new software, make modifications to existing software applications and modules in accordance with written specifications.
  • Develop and integrate applications as per written specifications.
  • Carry out unit testing, ensuring application meets needs of client and business.
  • Translates technical requirements and design documentation into application code and modules.
  • May provide technical support to operations or other development teams.
  • Contribute to and maintains technical documentation / manual related to assigned components to ensure supportability.
  • Works under direct supervision in performing maintenance on existing software products or straightforward software enhancements.
  • Makes suggestions for problem solutions or software enhancements, which will typically be reviewed by a more senior developer.
  • Implements solutions as directed within standards and with guidance from more senior engineers.
  • Participates in project planning sessions with team members to analyze development requirements.
  • Typically works on one project at a time and as a member of the project team(s) or as part of a specialist cross-project team on multiple developments.
  • Works on smaller, minimally complex projects or a particular system or application within larger projects that requires a singular area of expertise
  • Provides status updates for own scope of work within projects.
  • Participates in internal team and status meetings.
  • Develops software using disciplined software development processes, adhering to industry standards and software best practice guidelines.
  • Ability to create application design specifications and document coding efforts.
  • Be excited about and enjoy developing software using the latest technologies as well as legacy technology.
  • Timely completion of assignments with quality.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging, technical problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical knowledge to business needs.

Keep up to date with emerging cloud technology trends – open source and cloud vendors such as AWS, Azure, and GCP Collaborate deeply with multiple levels of technical staff across various geographical locations in a dynamic agile team environment. Being the Cloud Native advocate to challenge status quo and ensure leveraging the full capabilities of the Cloud Platform May provide technical support to operations or other development teams Makes suggestions for problem solutions or software enhancements, which will typically be reviewed by a more senior developer. Ensure that all cloud solutions follow internally defined security and compliance standards and controls Participates in project planning sessions with team members to analyze development requirements, provide design options, and provide work breakdown and estimates of work. Identifies and resolves standard technical and operational problems Decisions involve interpretation of data, planning own work, or refining the methods and techniques to be used Communicates information effectively and checks for understanding Responds to non-standard requests from customers; investigates with assistance from others as needed Explains difficult issues and obtains agreement as needed About You You're a fit for the role of Cloud Engineer if your background includes: Bachelor of Computer Science or with relevant work experience in cloud engineering. Python Development experience. Possess knowledge and experience in general IT and public cloud, including Networking, Infrastructure, Security, Storage, Operating Systems (Linux/Windows). Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud infrastructure provisioning, automation, infrastructure as code, automated application deployment Experience with core cloud services includes, but not limited to, EC2, S3, Azure Virtual Machine, Azure Storage, ALB, Route53, Azure DNS, etc. Experience with Relational and NoSQL Databases such as RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora, PostgresSQL, and ElastiCache, etc Experience with AWS and/or Azure Messaging/Events, Firewall, Security, and Identity/ Access services Experience with Serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda and Azure Functions Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog, AWS Cloudwatch, and Azure Experience with CI\CD tools such as AWS CodePipeline, Azure DevOps, and GitHub actions Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills.
