We seek an experienced, highly skilled, motivated, and talented individual interested in Python application development focusing on server-side logic, ensuring high performance and responsiveness on Ciena's NextGen NMS system, i.e., Navigator MC. Navigator MC is Ciena's domain controller, automating the lifecycle operations of Ciena's packet and optical networks. Navigator MC helps network operators plan, provision, and turn up multi-layer services quickly using a highly intuitive interface. Candidates with a high level of technical aptitude and software development experience on the public or private cloud are encouraged to apply. Roles and Responsibilities:
As a lead engineer, you would be working independently and responsible for the following:
- Design, develop and support software specializing in different NMS/EMS layers to support network elements using multiple technologies like DWDM, Optical Switches, and Multi-Service edge products
- You are a self-starter who works with limited direction and is committed to delivering against aggressive deadlines
- You can make key decisions and manage competing and ever-changing release priorities largely driven by the software development process
- Understand the existing microservice-based architecture of Navigator MC software and deploy it on the RedHat OpenShift platform
- You thrive in a multi-disciplinary team environment but are comfortable working independently as required
- You keep abreast of the market and competitive developments and are always keen to formulate new ideas and problem-solve
- Develop a complete understanding of mid-sized features and proactively partner with Systems Engineering to review and close feature requirements on time
- Create extensible designs that account for expanded feature scope and/or anticipated future needs
- Analyze recurring design defects within the feature/complex subsystem and implement practices for early detection and avoidance across the features thus improving design quality
- Create designs for the features or complex subsystems that take into consideration the entire product life cycle, which enables efficient maintenance of the features or complex subsystems in future releases
- Choose the right technology/tools (for example appropriate design patterns), with no unnecessary abstraction layers, to implement the features/complex subsystem, which resulted in high-quality, stable, efficient, and secure code
- Evaluate various competing 3rd party software/tools and propose the one that fits the product requirement best
Educational Qualification and Certifications:
- Bachelors/Master of Engineering in Computer Science with 8+ years of relevant experience
- Software Development Experience in Python is a must with knowledge of multiple Python frameworks
- Working experience in NMS/EMS based Software systems
- Extensive development experience on Linux OS
- Excellent understanding of Data Structures and Multi-threading concepts
- Excellent troubleshooting/debugging skills
- Excellent Problem-Solving skills
