Job description 

The Senior Revenue Accountant supports the revenue cycle and is responsible for the reviewing and analyzing of software contracts ensuring revenue is recorded in compliance with Synopsys’s revenue recognition policy and accounting literature. 
The ideal candidate has 5-7 years of experience in a high growth Software Company or public accountant firm with excellent attention-to-detail, high proficiency in Excel, communication skills and communication skills.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 

  • Review and analyze software contracts and document significant terms and accounting conclusions to ensure that revenue is recorded in compliance with Company’s revenue recognition policy and accounting literature in accordance with ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • Communicate with various internal groups to gather relevant information for decision making (Order Management, Sales, Legal, Credit & Collections and Professional Services)
  • Ensure revenue transactions are reviewed and in compliance with the Company’s business practices (e.g. future pricing/material rights, milestone payments, cancellation clauses, and contracts with non-standard terms)
  • Assist in preparation of revenue audit packages necessary for auditors to complete their quarterly and year-end audit selections
  • Provide guidance and suggest improvements to the Company’s Order-to-Cash and revenue recognition process
  • Support Sales during high volume of month-end and year-end opportunities
  • Approve revenue recognition in SaleForce.com opportunities
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
  • Maintains a customer service approach interfacing with the functional departments in relation to all aspects of responsibilities
  • Supports Revenue Accounting Manager with special projects and process improvements
    Requirements:
  • 5-7 years’ experience in either a public accounting firm or a high growth software company
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting,
  • Chartered Accountant or Finance MBA desirable.
  • ASC 606 Revenue Recognition knowledge
  • Salesforce and SAP RAR
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Excellent attention-to-detail, time-management, and customer service skills
  • Proficient in the use of Excel functions including but not limited to VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot tables and IF statements
  • Exceptional work ethic
