We are looking for a Technical Lead Engineer (Front End) to join our team at Guidewire Software. As a Technical Lead, you will be responsible for successful delivery of product updates, defining sprints, resolving code defects, and contributing to product and software design. You should have proficiency in building state-of-the-art single page web client applications using React, JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS. Additionally, you should have experience with unit testing, automation scripts, CI/CD pipeline, design patterns, and Agile methodologies. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required. Bonus skills include expertise in AWS, GCP, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Node.js, Express, and web application security.

Job description 

What you would do

  • Be part of a small empowered team to successful delivery of product updates.
  • Work with Team Lead to define sprints and perform agile ceremonies.
  • Own, diagnose and resolve code defects.

What you would need to succeed

  • Proficiency with building and deploying state-of-the-art single page web client applications using React, JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the above areas.
  • Experience and confidence contributing to product and software design, and implementation.
  • Experience writing unit tests and testable components.
  • Experience building automation scripts and tools to support the CI & CD pipeline.
  • Experienced in design patterns and best coding practices.
  • Experience working in an Agile work environment and knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Strong technical communication skills.
  • BS/MS degree (Computer Science) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for continuous learning of new technologies that can be applied to improving the product.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience developing applications deployed using public cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of authentication, role-based access control (authorization), web application security.
  • Experience with Node.js and server-side JavaScript (e.g. Express).
  • Server-side Java development
