ABOUT THE ROLE: Comcast seek a talented cloud engineer to join our growing team supporting Corporate Business Solutions. The ideal candidate possesses specialist experience in Linux operating system design, build and administration. Especially in the areas of advanced cluster management (Pacemaker) and SAP Hana systems replication services. This is an important role within our organization. The candidate will be the primary SME providing design, build and operational guidance for the support of Linux based solutions. Various Linux distros are the primary operating system used for our application services The role sits within our cloud engineering squads. A passion for operating systems is a key requirement for this role

Job Description

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience with administration of Linux operating systems,
  • Core experience with SUSE and SLES for SAP version 15 and higher
  • Knowledge required of RedHat or Oracle Enterprise Linux
  • 5 years experience with advanced cluster management (Pacemaker) and SAP HANA DB system replication (HSR) services.
  • Demonstratable experience with build and operation of large-scale complex enterprise solutions (e.g. SAP or Oracle EBS) preferably in public cloud environments
  • Minimum of AWS Professional Cloud Certification
  • Ability to work in a across a variety of environments and platforms, have excellent follow-up skills and an ability to provide detailed documentation
  • Perform upgrades and integrations to existing systems
  • Ability to write AWS CLI scripts to automate tasks or generate reports at operating system level
  • Work independently with appropriate oversight to perform application deployments (including containerized applications), troubleshooting and documentation.
  • Support the development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of critical systems.
  • Troubleshoot EC2 Servers, perform root cause analysis, modify configurations if required, diagnose network and storage issues, scripting, and other tasks as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Ability to complete Tasks and or Projects within Time and Budget
  • Ability to work independently as well as interactively with other team members is essential

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a 4 year IT related degree and 4 years of production systems administration/support, or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
  • Ability to code and script
  • Experience with systems and IT operations
  • Strong grasp of automation tools
  • Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
  • Working knowledge and experience with at least some of the following:
    • Linux system design and administration (installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, patching, log analysis, performance tuning, etc.)
    • AWS Cloud platform design and administration (compute, storage, DB, migration, network & content delivery services, etc.)
    • Scripting (Shell, Python, etc.)
    • Caching (Varnish, Memcached, etc.)
    • Web server platforms (Apache, Nginx, etc.)
    • Storage platforms (MySQL, ElasticSearch, etc.)
    • Log tools (Syslog, Logstash, Kibana, etc.)
    • Automation tools (Ansible, Jenkins, etc.)
    • Monitoring tools (Nagios, MRTG, etc.)
    • Security tools (SELinux, IPTables, OSSEC, etc.)
