Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Welding of tubes, air manifolds and sheet metal parts.
  • Welding of stainless steel, Inconel material.
  • Repair of defective stainless steel and Inconel castings.
  • Welding and fabrication by using TIG and Orbital welding processes.
  • Ability to read, understand, analyze and interpret drawings, manuals, SOP, MOS and other material to determine finish product.
  • Assembly of welded products.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Diploma with minimum 2.5 years of experience in welding and fabrication.
  • Shall be certified in welding process as per AWS D17.1 in 6G position with II A & III B materials.
  • Shall have experience to produce X ray quality Class B weld joints, with SS 321 & Inconel 625 material
  • Highest Levels of Personal Integrity and Safety Mindset.
  • Experience in engineering industry – with firsthand experience of fabrication of tubes and ducts of aircraft engines.
  • Knowledge in welding machines usage and their accessories like welding positioners, Bevellers, Rollers, 3D welding tables, etc.

This will take up a lot of time at suppliers and thus will require business trip up to 50% of your time. 1 - Your role will be to ensure that the special process Welding is organized and executed correctly at suppliers in compliance with the actual relevant standards as well as Hitachi Energy internal procedures: Apply and enforce the standard for welding quality in railway: EN 15085 CL1 and general welding quality: ISO 3834-2 standards, as well as other internal guidelines. 2 – Support and carry out the development of welded parts according to the internal Milestones process of metal fab components (welding, painting, design and dimensional part) and follow up until the official validation of the product. 3 – Inspect parts at supplier during prefabrication, fabrication and once manufacturing is finished in order to get final inspection validated in the first time and no non-conformity for the final product. 4 - Your role will be to ensure the safety and the quality of the railway components being delivered to Hitachi Energy. This means following the product fabrication during development phase but also serial production. You will also make sure in case of deviations from the initial process to establish and ensure safe rework procedure and monitoring in line with the Responsible Welding Coordinator. 5 – You will review welding topics at suppliers such as: Manufacturing sequence, Welding plan, WPQR, WPS, Welder qualifications, welding samples, NDT, jigs and toolings etc.. You will also check the workshop & work environment: welding stations, traceability of raw material and filler material, welding generators, etc..  6 – Along with welding requirements, you will take care of dimensional requirements, and painting process along with general quality of the product. 7 – You will actively participate to maintaining and developing the supplier base of Hitachi Energy in India. This will require follow-up audit at current supplier as well as new audit at potential suppliers. During supplier development phase you will be required to work hand in the hand with the supplier to bring them up to speed regarding the expected requirements. 8 – You will support the team regarding trainings to be delivered to other member of the team or to suppliers. 9 - Capitalize on manufacturing feedback to the Technical Department. 10 - Defend Hitachi Energy’s interests towards customers. Qualification: Lead supplier qualification process audits including technical process audits (welding & painting) for current and potential new suppliers in the category. Review Corrective And Preventive Actions, perform follow-up audits, revise Failure Mode and Effects Analysis. 3. NCR resolution: Confirm technical root-cause analysis and implementation of appropriate counter-measures at supplier location for escalated critical and/or repeating quality concerns 4. Process improvement: Provide technical guidance to suppliers within supplier development initiatives. Monitor and report supplier improvement activities progress. Establish standard tools and methods for process audits and inspections. Job Description As a Special Process Engineer, Lead process development, prototype builds, new product development, managing cost out programs related to special processes. Responsible for Special processes including Heat treatment, Brazing, Honeycomb brazing & Air flow for materials like Inconel, Stainless steel, Rene, Hastelloy, GTD222 etc. Identifying customer requirements and its flow down through work instructions, Routers and procedures. Define requirements for production capacity, initial acceptance quality, estimating cycle time, manufacturing test equipment, and documentation for your product line. Verification of process control parameters, inspection records -review and sign off, trouble shooting and problem solving related to process and equipment. Daily monitoring of air flow process equipment, and process control verification, trend analysis etc. Daily monitoring of vacuum furnace operation, maintenance checks of vacuum furnace and maintenance logs and related documentation Should know braze alloy application process and can select between different alloy forms like foil/powder/paste/wire/tape etc. as per the process requirement. Qualification and Training of operators on the special processes and related equipment. Maintaining skill matrix and preparing their skill enhancement plan for the year. Experience in preparing calibration requirement and reviewing the calibration certificates of Furnace and air flow equipment’s and gauges. Co-ordination with QA and calibration team for the same and ensuring process and quality compliance. Proficient in making Manufacturing Operations Sheet for the special processes for which he is responsible. Knowledge of PYROMETRY (AMS 2750) is must. Able to establish and demonstrate linkage of every related process requirement of pyrometry and drawing in SOP, router, procedures and Checklists. Support Transfer projects between sites and other internal/external sites Work with global teams and customers during NPI and as well as Serial production phase. Work with MFG Operations to simplify production lines, improve productivity.   Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Preferably Metallurgy and Material science Engineering OR Mechanical Engineering Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in a Special processes like vacuum heat treatment, brazing and air flow testing. Preferred if having experience on Aviation parts and knowledge of AS 9100 requirements. Ability to identify/track metrics and drive continuous improvement. Proficient in reading drawing, specifications and suggesting the suitable special process parameters. Should be having knowledge of preparing furnace recipes and air flow testing programs. Knowledge of different problem-solving methodologies used in Special processes. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to clearly communicate to internal/external customers and suppliers. Ability to interface with varied levels from Operators to Plant Management. Expertise in Estimation/Costing and Economics of Heat treatment & Air flow Experience in Assembly processes.
