WHAT YOU'LL DO

As the Global Payroll Service Line lead you will make key business decisions that impact the global payroll operations process. You will collaborate with the payroll operations and tax teams, cell finance leadership, and the HR and Compensation & Benefits teams to prioritize process and system improvement initiatives. You will need to use a collaborative, professional, and service-oriented approach to interacting with these business partners. Your responsibilities will also include defining and enforcing policy and standards for the HR Data to Payroll process, identifying opportunities for improvement across the process, driving initiatives to realize those opportunities, tracking operational performance, and creating incentives for the performance and health of the team involved in the HR Data to Payroll process.

You will initiate process and system changes and enhancements, work with the payroll operations team and other cross-functional business partners to prioritize process and system improvement initiatives impacting the global payroll process, including planning and managing the overall roadmap. You will be a core member of the US and international payroll transformation efforts, including selection and seamless transitions to chosen payroll platforms.

Furthermore, you will drive improvements and establish best-in-class processes for global payroll and related programs which meet jurisdictional compliance requirements and delivers outstanding employee support; communicate the priorities, partner requirements and sequential steps in operationalizing the Global payroll transformation roadmap and ensuring alignment across the organization; continuously partner with HR, Benefits, Finance and other related organizations to ensure that the end-to-end payroll input and output processes are optimized.

You will lead discussions with Finance leadership regarding overall global payroll strategy to align on operationalizing the global payroll transformation plan, partner with Human Resources on systems and process changes, master data integrity/verification, data privacy initiatives/compliance and transactional data requirements.

You will develop, implement and review KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), ensure the organization is future-ready and adaptable to a dynamically changing environment with interventions like RPA, AI, Digital Automation etc. Additionally, you will also forecast and plan staff requirements and manage long-term investments (including development of investment cases and allocation of funding) for HR Data to Payroll as well as help to define risk controls and audit, documentation (e.g., service catalogue, escalation procedures, management of third-party resources), and compliance requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting/personnel, plus 15+ years’ experience in payroll operations in a global organization
  • Experience overseeing a finance shared service – global payroll team, either in a captive environment or a BPO preferable
  • Expertise in the end-to-end global payroll process and high level of understanding of general business operations and internal control concepts
  • Operational experience with SAP (accounting capabilities) and payroll systems (e.g., Lawson, Ramco)
  • Operationally seasoned with good exposure to Agile, Process Engineering, Lean methodologies and Process Automation/RPA in Finance
  • Ability to think strategically and also act operationally; ability to manage ambiguity, risk, and changing direction of projects and strategies
  • Experience working with a geographically dispersed team and familiarity with business practices and cultures across multiple international regions
  • Strong experience in identifying US and global payroll optimization opportunities and driving the subsequent implementation of related projects
  • Experience with managing under Service Level Agreement (SLA), Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and performance metrics and monitoring for in scope activities
  • Senior presence and ability to develop strong, collaborative relationships with office leaders
  • Extensive knowledge of outsourcing processes and best practices, along with excellent problem solving, analytic, and project management skills
  • Enthusiastic to lead in a hands-on informal team environment

You will ensure Payroll is processed with speed, accuracy, and timeliness verifying compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations. You will serve as liaison to internal customers and partners as well as external vendors to guarantee Payroll processing accurately reflects company-specific pay policies. You must be able to connect and combine large volumes of data from a variety of sources, interact, filter and mine data to share insights and ensure a compliant payroll. Knowledge of US labor and employment tax regulations, Federal and State Tax legislation, and the ability to process tax adjustments, W-2s, W-2C’s is critical.     What you’ll do:   Prepare and facilitate payroll transmit (load files, time entry, pre-audits, actual transmit, post-audits, etc.) following established controls. The payrolls include both on-cycle and off-cycle payrolls including, but not limited to, stock, annual bonus, and year-end processing Perform data uploads for all payroll periods including bi-weekly, stock, annual bonus, adjustments, and year-end Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are reported accurately and timely. Maintain the Payroll processing checklist, reviewing, and making appropriate updates.
