Position Description
Volvo Group Accounting and Company Control, Record to Report Department in Bangalore, is looking for candidates for the position of JL3-Senior Accountant – General Ledger

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Commerce.

Experience

  • Minimum 4 to 7 years of experience within General Ledger accounting, reconciliation, Month end close reporting processes, Financial reporting.
  • Experience in working with Advance Excel, Access and Power Point, BI tools are required
  • Preferable working experience in GL, AP, AR, FA Module, with SAP Exposure/Other ERP
  • End user experience in various source system and financial reporting such as BCS, BPC, Hyperion etc.


Main responsibilities:

  • Cooperation with Volvo Group Partners:
  • Records of business transactions related to the General Ledger
  • Preparation of financial reports
  • Period end close processes, reconciliation systems, discuss with appropriate account/profit Centre owners, and prepare and post journal entries.
  • Reconcile various balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Prepare and assist with the review of recurring reporting packages to include financial statements, analysis and assist in preparation of year-end financial statements.
  • Daily contact with clients within assigned area of responsibilities
  • Participation in internal and external audits
  • Understanding of Interfaces and impact on financial statements
  • Adherence to Internal control and SOX compliance
  • Monitoring and analysis of business transactions according to IFRS and Volvo Group Financial Policies and Procedures


Requirements

Special requirements in relation to initiative, judgment, flexibility, communication, management etc.:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Solid knowledge about data validation, presentation, and interpretation
  • Fast learner i.e., able to learn the basic accounting flow in the different systems used and transform data into usable information.
  • Thorough, detailed, and responsible
  • Teamwork attitude and service minded
  • Good IT skills/technical expertise
  • Commitment, self-reliance, and accuracy
  • Ability to contribute various lean ideas, process improvement initiatives to drive efficiency in process.
  • Preferable experience from the Manufacturing industry/ shared service experience is a plus)
  • As a business requirement willing to work in any shift and extra hours during the close cycle.

Roles and Responsibilities :   Payroll processing: Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees from Employee Records/Data base and other related sources. Manage tax and withholding records and deductions for all federal, state, local or other corporate taxes that affect payroll amounts. Set up each individual new hire with all the necessary forms, including direct deposit requests, wage verification, I-9 information, and W-4 reports. Produce yearly employee withholding tax reports in a timely fashion to ensure all employees are able to prepare their taxes without delay. Answer questions regarding pay checks, withholding tax issues or wage adjustments from employees and help troubleshoot possible issues with pay. Follow and calculate all outside wage garnishment requests or judgments when required on an individual’s paycheck. Compliance Statutory compliances with respect to 401K, Social Security,  FICA, FLSA, FUTA  and other related compliances. Preparation and Co-ordination with  auditors and ensures smooth completion of audits related to payroll. MIS reports Preparation of monthly and quarterly payroll cost variance report ( CC wise, BU wise and function wise ). Preparation of monthly payroll MIS and adhoc reports for management ADP software knowledge – knowledge payroll processing through ADP is an added advantage. Job Requirements:   5 to 10  yrs of experience in handling payroll of IT companies preferable using ADP software. Degree or Masters Degree from any recognized university. Expertize knowledge of  retirement benefits like 401K, Social Security,  FICA, FLSA, FUTA.   Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations. Exposure to labour law compliances. High degree of professionalism. Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material. Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Must have good interpersonal, written and verbal communications and good presentation skills.
