We are currently searching for a Software Engineering Manager to join our Cloud Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) team. As a Sr. Manager on the SRE team you will support a large private cloud architecture with over 2000+ tenants and Virtual Computer platforms using VMWare and Openstack. The support role will include managing inicidents and outages on the platform, plus planning, building, and testing software products that ensure the reliability, secure, cost-effective, and elastic adoption and usage of all the cloud platforms we support. You will be joining a small and fast-moving group of world-class experts who are innovating in delivering cloud solutions, security, and governance to product teams at Comcast. We are a team that thrives on big challenges, results, quality, and agility. The team’s engineers are work closely with cloud, security, and network architects to ensure our products and services consistently meet customer demands. The ideal candidate will have experience leading teams and operating large scale infrastructure. Along with along with being able manage and deploy cloud infrastructure architectures on one or more cloud platforms as well as hands-on experience designing and developing cloud infrastructure automation solutions. Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Own and lead a team of Software Development Engineers in the operating, planning, designing and development of automation, governance, scripting on multiple cloud environments.
  • Manage notifications and communications of issues, outages and Clooud product performance.
  • Coordinate progress, project status and lead agile ceremonies with CIEC and US based teams.
  • Work with leaders and senior leaders from onsite location to understand strategic roadmap and participate in necessary leadership activities
  • Maintain and optimize existing solutions while developing new software solutions.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet deadlines, specifications, and budgets. Develop and implement performance metrics. Review and report on project progress to leadership
  • Continuously research new techniques with respect to coding technology and practices. Work with Engineering teams to implement new techniques that benefit the goals of the organization
  • Develop and oversee project implementation and assist in design.
  • Actively contribute to the code base, review the code, and system configuration as necessary
  • Present and defend architectural, design, and technical choices to internal and external audiences
  • Track and document the requirements and architecture for the project
  • Coordinate implementation of development lifecycle between different teams
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Contributes to functional strategy development
  • Acts as a champion through continued focus on proactively identifying and addressing processes for improvement
  • Comfortable with collaboration, open communication and reaching across various cross functional teams such as dev, ops, qa, FinOps, Security and Architecture teams
  • Promote team growth by educating, coaching, and empowerment
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Employees at all levels are expected to:

  • A passion for developing people and building teams
  • Desired experience in team leadership who are supporting/operating large scale infrastructure.
  • Desired previous experience in leading/managing team(s) of highly technical engineers and hands on experience in software development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or a related field required.
  • Excellent programming skills desired.
  • Hands on experience with continuous integration/deployment processes and tools such as Concourse, GitHub, Jenkins, CodeDeploy & CodePipeline
  • UNIX/Linux background: proficiency with command command-line utilities; familiarity with system administration tools and concepts a plus.
  • We favor experience in multiple languages over expertise in single language. However, in this role, experience in Python, Scala, Go, and CloudFormation are most likely to be helpful to the team.
  • Fundamental understanding of software programming best practices, design patterns and efficient data modelling practices.
  • Familiar with agile processes and ceremonies preferably with experience leading in an agile environment.
