The purpose of this role is to ensure that the scope of the assigned technical project delivery is understood, that the technical solution meets the business need, that plans are comprehensive and are achieved. This role is accountable from the business scoping of a technical deliverable through benefits realisation, functional and  non-functional. The role is accountable for multiple complex small to medium sized technical deliveries or a single large technical delivery, including producing and agreeing the technical delivery plan, reporting, risk and issue management.
This role provides the technical wrap to support the delivery of the allocated project that requires a technical delivery. The Technical Delivery Specialist acts as the interface into the Strategic Delivery Manager and Project Manager (where applicable)and the lead stakeholders by managing the resourcing, planning, reporting and all aspects of the technical deliveries from the inception of the project through to delivery, warranty and closure ensuring that the identified business benefit is achieved.

What you’ll be doing

•  Integrates and implements end-to-end solutions across customers and business areas.
•  Creates and owns technical solutions for a domain, cross domain or portfolio of work within a specific technology area and delivers work autonomously.
•  Executes technical roadmap for specific area or domain.
•  Provides recommendation on development budget for the next year by understanding/explaining the technology evolution of the product/system/process etc.

•  Leads on design assurance before integrating into end to end solutions
•  Monitors technical solutions to ensure alignment between business need and scope of delivery, managing any changes raised during the project and manages interdependencies that arise during delivery.
•  Delivers and implements discrete technical solutions, including scoping, testing, delivery to live, on time and budget autonomously.
•  Liaises with customers, suppliers and peers to update on progress and resolve issues, managing impacts on components integral to delivery of scope.
•  Provides technical expertise to ensure solution integrity and quality of third party inputs.

Skills and experience required

•  Technology design - You partner with the business to understand and analyse user requirements and inform the architecture design for software, systems and networks.
•  Product and service knowledge - You demonstrate subject matter expertise in complex, technical infrastructure, products and services. You develop bespoke solutions to meet short, medium and long-term customer needs.
•  Issue management - You conduct a deep review of data and issues to quickly reveal the root cause. You recommend short and long-term solutions to complex problems and follow through to make sure we solve them.
•  Improvement focus - You coach and empower teams to anticipate and analyse obstacles in work processes. You support them to develop solutions and implement ways to improve processes and make things more efficient.
•  Systems thinking - You provide technical expertise to evaluate the impacts and links between structure, people, process and technology. You think through the whole systems context, new perspectives and insight before taking on projects.
Problem Solving -  Must be able to proactively solve business problems that deal with uncertainty e.g. demand profile planning including location, skill and resource. Also some problems will be multi-platform wide, impacting multiple services or cross-portfolio solutions
● Co-ordination – the ability to being people together with the same objective to deliver successful projects , the first point of contact for requirements and being the voice of technology for projects
●  Transformation: Able to manage long term changes and adapting the unit in line with the business. Be able to transform delivery to improve and reduce cost and be confident in managing changes to major products


Experience you would be expected to have
    Taught your virtual team how to do their roles more effectively 
    Managed a low performing virtual team to a successful outcome 
    Aligned project plans and objectives with BT strategy and values 
    Made decisions in ambiguous situations using incomplete information or differing opinions (eg divided team loyalties or unclear deliverables). 
    Been a spokesperson for others on issues of integrity 
    Actively participated in strategy setting sessions 
    To suit the needs of a customer, colleague or client; moved outside of expected process or practice 
    Have worked closely with a CFU and can understand commercial challenges and strategy
    Have a track record of success working across the software development lifecycle and  infrastructure delivery including technical delivery management
