Job Description

Manage a group of drafters and technicians by utilizing technical knowledge and team leadership skills in order to execute CAD work with quality and efficiency within defined metrics.

Job Duties

• Execute, track and improve project and individual performance using the following measures:
  • Task Efficiency, Task Quality, Quality Control Utilization, Rework Utilization, Overall Team Competency, Personal Competency
• Provide supervision and manage team consisting of:
  • 3-5 CAD Drafters/Technicians
• Establish and communicate expectations, progress, and goals to team members
• Kickoff all drafting task work and report project health weekly.
• Recognize inefficiencies and facilitate changes in process that result in significant improvement.

Accountabilities 

• Team Productivity Tracking and Development: Daily tracking of individual and team performance. Growth plans for all team members are established and documented in quarterly performance check-ins. Attend and support quarterly performance reviews for all team members. Ensure team members understand work and professional expectations.
• Ensure Project Team Satisfaction: Provide quality control to ensure that the work delivered is technically correct and aligns with internal client standards and expectations.
• Contribute to Team through Communication and Work Ethic: Maintain professional, positive relationships and effectively communicate with team members and other colleagues.
• Efficiently Disseminate Expertise: Share and transfer knowledge to ensure that similar groups have an appropriate level of technical expertise. Continually pursue professional development of self and team.

Required Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Engineering Design Graphics or other technical field (Physics, Chemistry, Process Technology)
• 1-2 years of experience in Drafting and Project Management including project planning, resource planning, tracking, scope change, deliverables, risk mitigation and assumptions
• Proven and documented proficiency in two competencies (e.g., Iso’s, Equipment, Structures, P&ID’s, CMD’s, CML’s and TML’s, and PFD’s)
• 2+ years of AutoCAD experience
• Experience managing teams/projects of 3-5 people
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong aptitude for learning new processes and techniques
• Proven experience innovating processes and increasing efficiencies, while maintaining and improving quality

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other technical field (Physics, Chemistry, Process Technology)
• Advanced CAD Knowledge with experience creating macros, scripts, and templates
