JOB DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW

We are the Windows Servicing and Delivery (WSD) organization, which is a part of E+D division. Our core mission is to keep customers protected and productive by delivering a seamless and timely servicing experience for our customers in existing and future versions of Windows.  

 

Our Customer Focused Engineering (CFE) team is looking for highly motivated Software Engineers to help us in this mission. You will play a key role in extending and modifying Windows Operating system code for keeping our customer base secure, improving the reliability of the platform, addressing customer reported issues, and developing features to light up new scenarios and devices in the Windows ecosystem (PCs, Phones, Servers, SurfaceHub, Hololens, Azure and more). You would be involved in the Enterprise and Security area of Windows Operating System.

RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Develop features to support the enterprise and security scenarios in Windows.
  • Reproducing, debugging and fixing customer-reported problems.
  • Crafting high-quality, bug-free fixes with minimum application compatibility risk.
  • Adding new features in Windows.
  • Prioritizing your collection of work and delivering fixes in a timely fashion to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborating with escalation engineers and other partner teams across Microsoft to debug, develop, test and ship updates.
  • Finding ways to improve products, tools, and processes for long-term benefit for Microsoft and customers.
  • Mentoring junior engineers in the team.

QUALITIFICATION

  • 1.5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Proven design and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on quality and engineering excellence.
  • Proven communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to work well in a diverse, global, team-focused environment.
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience with relevant programming skills in C#, C++ or equivalent
  • Ability to understand unfamiliar code bases, and debug server-side, multi-threaded, and highly scalable applications.
  • Experience in working with Windows system level programming is desirable.
  • Demonstrated results working with a global team.
  • Experience with agile/scrum methodologies.
  • Overall understanding of Azure/Cloud infrastructure is desirable.

Qualifications Required Qualifications:  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with 1+ proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. OR equivalent experience. Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications:  Hands on experience with distributed systems and services in the cloud. Experience with public cloud services including Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.   Responsibilities Contribute towards building the Azure Service Fabric platform that makes it possible for supporting multiple classes of applications accounting for application consistency, availability, and partition tolerance. Develop an understanding of Service Fabric orchestration and workflows in conjunction with platform level capabilities. Works in collaboration with teams across a single organization to develop reliable, scalable, and high-performance, software designs. Partners with engineering and Program Management teams to understand customer, business, and technical requirements to provide feedback to Azure Engineering. Triages, troubleshoots, and repairs complex live site issues by applying expertise in software and hardware components and features.
