Position Summary
Arcesium seeks an exceptional Legal & Compliance Intern to join our team for the summer. This intern will work with both legal and compliance personnel across our global offices. The goal of our summer internship program is to give exposure to a wide range of legal and compliance projects to students with an interest in the financial technology legal and compliance space. Both JD students and senior/4th year undergraduate students enrolled in a pre-law program are welcome and encouraged to apply. The intern will work with members of the Legal & Compliance team as well as members of senior management.
Responsibilities
- General legal research and writing: Efficient research and succinct writing are core competencies for the legal and compliance group. The successful candidate will be asked to perform general legal and compliance research to include drafting research and other memoranda and preparing presentations
- Transactional support: Cloud subscription agreements are the key to our revenues. The successful candidate will assist the contracts team in managing templates and tracking transaction progress (both customer facing and vendor facing)
- Back-end support: Help standardize and establish best practices for various communication channels across the team; Conduct research and evaluate vendors for process automation and improvements
- Intellectual property: Intellectual property and data are among our most valuable assets. The successful candidate will have a role in our program to protect, register, and enforce our IP and data
- Dispute resolution: Disputes, whether litigation, arbitration, or informal negotiations, are a part of modern business. We may be involved in one or more such matters at any given time. The successful candidate may play a role in assisting the General Counsel assess, respond to, and manage the company’s dispute resolution matters
- Regulatory compliance: Arcesium is subject to a wide range of regulations, either directly or through its clients, including those governing financial products, data privacy, and consumer protection. The successful candidate would have a role in helping the General Counsel and compliance personnel comply with these regulations by researching the law and updating compliance policies and procedures
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate should be pursuing a JD or be a senior/4th year enrolled in a formal pre-law program with demonstrated plans to attend law school in the 2025 academic year.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have a strong desire to solve strategic legal problems
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office business suite and some working knowledge of proprietary research tools.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Able to work in a highly collaborative, team environment where feedback on work product is given frequently and in real-time
- Agile and creative mindset and the ability to multi-task
The expected monthly salary for this position is $5,500. Our compensation package also includes a one-time housing stipend
