The Role:
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop mechanical & electro-mechanical systems to customer requirements for automotive, aerospace, wind and industrial applications. Reporting directly to the Design Team Manager, the position offers the opportunity for you to utilise your skills and develop technically to a position of leading projects in the future.
The role focusses on the design of gearbox and transmissions, utilising the latest analytical tools to develop solutions to meet the future business requirements. You will be involved in the whole design and development process which sometimes involves manufacturing, testing and certification support of the end product.
Responsibilities:

  • Working with a team or engineers to develop drivetrain solutions for customers globally, providing input at the concept stage through to delivery of the product to the customer.
  • Support the mechanical design tasks using the latest CAD & CAE tools to produce and validate the virtual product.
  • Creation of drawings and design documentation to support manufacture, testing and certification of the end product.
  • Support discussion with the customer to ensure the solution being developed meets their requirements.
  • Development of internal processes to ensure that “best practices” are documented for fellow engineers to follow.
  • Supporting the Hexagon business goals helping to develop software products.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of design or analysis experience in automotive drivetrain design or precision engineering role.
  • Experience of creating of manufacturing drawings for precision components.
  • Experienced in the development of products and supporting DFMEA’s.
  • Computer literate and skilled in the use of CAD or CAE software.
  • Knowledge of material and manufacturing processes is advantageous.
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
