What role you will play in our team

 

We are seeking dynamic, creative and resourceful geophysicist candidates for ExxonMobil's Bengaluru, India location.  In order to help steer and manage complex software development in a HPC computing environment.

 

The ideal candidate will need to be able to interface with both geophysical scientist and software developers in order to optimize the workflow performance from both a scientific and software standpoint.

What you will do

 

Primary Job Functions

 

  • Interface with a global software development team.
  • Acting as the voice for end users and researchers within the development team
  • Able to understand complex geophysical problems, and relate those issues to the development team
  • Understand the geophysical workflows needed to triage end users issues and solve them with the correct solution, and be able interface with the developers when more complex issues require it.
  • Understanding of the entire acquisition to post processing seismic processing workflow, including iterative VMB (Velocity Model Build )
  • Previous experience in Geophysics and QA/QC process
  • Document bugs within high-end geophysics software packages.
  • Be able design, create, & execute unit and test cases
  • Review source code with software developers when needed.

About You

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

Candidates should possess the following at a minimum:

  • Master's or PhD degree from a recognized university in Geophysics, Geoscience, or Physics with CGPA 6 and above.
  • Demonstrated record of more than 5 years of hands on industrial or research experience in geophysical data analyses, preferably in the oil and gas industry
  • At least 2 years’ experience in seismic processing and/or seismic imaging and at least 5 years’ experience testing or using scientific applications
  • Proficiency in English, strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Experience with seismic data processing projects and relevant software packages
  • Experience with seismic data processing projects
  • Experience with the scrum and agile practices
  • Experience with TFS, GIT, backlog management

 

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

 

  • Previous depth model building experience (iterative loops with depth imaging)
  • QA/QC software development experience
  • HPL (High performance Linux) computing experience
  • Strong computational and analytical skills. For example: Knowledge of seismic inversion, well log analysis, quantitative interpretation, AVO, seismic interpretation, DHI, seismic to well tie, rock physics, domain conversion, velocity model building, statistical methods, machine learning, signal processing, numerical modeling, computer programming and optimization will be an advantage
