JOB DESCRIPTION
Meta is seeking a Research Scientist to join our AI Research Computer Vision Team, a research organization focused on making significant progress in AI as well as applying AI to the Meta Platforms products. Our work is largely focused on image, video and multi-modal Foundational models. Individuals in this role are expected to be recognized experts in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, particularly in areas such as Deep Learning, Computer Vision, and Reinforcement Learning. As a Research Scientist, you will help us develop innovative models and algorithms and apply them to large-scale production Computer Vision tasks.
Applied Research Scientist, Computer Vision Responsibilities
- Perform research to advance the science and technology of intelligent machines.
- Develop algorithms based on state-of-the-art machine learning and neural network methodologies.
- Produce clearly written descriptions of finished work and proposals for new projects.
- Conduct research that enables learning the semantics of data (images, video, and their relationship to text, audio, speech and other modalities).
- Carefully evaluate the performance of proposed models.
- Drive projects that identify or create state-of-the-art research with the potential to impact Meta Platforms products.
- Collaborate from prototyping to production on research projects within a globally-based team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Currently has a PhD in the field of Artificial Intelligence, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of additional experience in computer vision research and applications.
- Research background in Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, or related field(s).
- Experience developing and debugging in Python.
- Experience in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience in theoretical and empirical research and in addressing research problems.
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, or first-authored publications at conferences such as CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, ICML, NeurIPS, SIGGRAPH, or similar.
- Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.
- Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.
