If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk to you!   We are seeking a Senior Engineering Architect with experience leading initiatives from zero-to-one, delivering an ecosystem of federated subgraphs, establishing and documenting best practices, and participating in AI micro-service implementation to optimize workflows. This hands-on coding role involves leading and mentoring multiple scrum teams to influence, collaborate, and provide the most innovative solutions across organizational boundaries.   Role Responsibilities: Design and implement a robust API network using a mix of APIs, including GraphQL Apollo Federation 1 and 2 subgraphs Develop new platforms and features that are magical, scalable and relevant for our customers Drive innovation in the company and contribute to the open source community. Develop and maintain GraphQL schema definitions, resolvers, and directives Collaborate with other architects, developers, and product managers to define backend services specifications and requirements Supervise and continuously improve the performance of AI products Implement working prototypes for testing new ideas Lead the creation of large-scale architectures for significant product areas across multiple eBay systems Drive development of enterprise architecture standards, guidelines, and principles Lead by example, demonstrating hands-on coding expertise and actively participating in the development and review of critical components Promote a culture of engineering excellence, using opportunities to reuse and inner source solutions where possible Coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community Effectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders across the enterprise, at all levels of the organization Establish best practices around GraphQL and AI usage across the company Find solutions that allow for fast delivery with incremental progress on quality using Agile design principles Design solutions to automate and scale GraphQL Federation adoption for hundreds of services Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to subgraph orchestration, field resolution, and complicated query plans Drive continuous process improvement, increasing the efficiency and quality of AI project deliveries   Role Requirements: 10+ years of experience in software architecture and design 2+ years of experience in AI-based chat engines and knowledge of key AI industry trends and technologies Strong understanding of micro-services architecture and API design principles Deep technical experience with GraphQL and one or more of the following: GraphQL Federation, StitchQL, GraphQL Mesh is desirable Proven track record of delivering scalable APIs, with expertise in software design principles and practical experience in applying the principles to incrementally refactor legacy codebases Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms Recognized as the go-to architect for multiple product initiatives and a leader within the business unit Knowledge and experience of key machine learning, deep learning frameworks, and commercial technologies/platforms In-depth understanding of the business and regularly contributes to determining technology direction that results in measurable business improvements     Benefits are an essential part of your total compensation for the work you do every day. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave).
